Croeso! Welcome to my new and improved index page.  This will be a work in progress, as I discover more links to things that interest me on the Web.

Olwen Pen Aur is my persona name in the SCA, the Society for Creative Anachronism. I hold a Goutte de Sang for service to my kingdom, An Tir. My title, therefore, is the Honourable Lady Olwen Pen Aur. I'm also a Chancellor in Training for the University of Ithra in the Kingdom of An Tir. My personal interest is in learning more about the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and in teaching what I learn.

My major interest personally is in Wales in the tenth century. There is very little information available about Wales during this time period. This lack of information has forced me to research many areas that are close or parallel to my time period or to my chosen culture.

What little information exists is concerned with the political history of Wales, which is not a major interest of mine. My interests lie in the everyday: what people ate, how they cooked, what they wore, what kind of looms they used, what their houses were like, how their families related, and so on.

I've researched all of these areas as extensively as I can (I've been able to find virtually no solid information about clothing in Wales at this time, so that's the one exception).

I have a strong educational background in all of the arts. I've also made several trips, alone and with my husband, to Britain and Europe.

I've been having a lot of trouble getting the buttons to line up with the text below. It looks fine as I build the page, but when I view it with my browser, things are out of line. I don't know if this is my browser or the software at Geocities. If the buttons you see are not lined up with text, try putting your mouse over the button. If you're using Internet Explorer or Netscape, the address the button is linked to should show up. The names of my pages are usually pretty obvious and self-explanatory: Ithra is ithra.html, Golden Swan is Golden_Swan.html, etc. So you should recognize them. My apologies for the inconvenience. This is a recent problem and I'm not sure how to solve it.
