I am a Chancellor for the University of Ithra. My campus is Appledore, although the University of Ithra has no defined territories. Any Chancellor can run a session anywhere, but courtesy and commonsense demand that we notify the Chancellor who normally runs sessions in that area.

This spring I will NOT be running any sessions. I'm sorry if this causes any confusion or inconvenience for anyone.

Due to ill health and other mundane concerns, I have not been able to put together a session for this year so far.

This is a specialized session that will focus on the history and culture of Britain and Ireland prior to the reign of Edward I of England (he created a policy of deliberate cultural suppression and even genocide against all of the outlying areas of Britain as a way of strengthening England. This marks a dramatic shift in the English view of its Celtic neighbours, from roughly equal rivals and adversaries to culturally backward losers. The Celts in Britain and Ireland from this point began to fight not merely for political advantage, but for the very survival of their culture and way of life. We're not interested in that period. We want to learn more about the time when the Celts were still viewed, and viewed themselves, as equal players on the European stage).

There are several cultures represented in Britain during this period: Celtic, Roman, Romano-British, Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Norman. Classes may focus on one culture and its history, costume, or way of life. Or classes may be generally applicable to that period of time in Britain and Ireland.

For all you confirmed Brit-o-philes and Irish folk out there, come and hang out with other people whose idea of fashion sense includes multiple plaids, scratchy wool and lots of amber. The first two were great fun, so we want to do it again!
