Mrs Lai Chong Kiat
(Mdm Lim Kim Heoh)
Mrs Lai was born in Kuching on 11th April 1917. She is the
second daughter of the late Rev. Lim Yong Chua.
She had her education at St Mary's School, Kuching. In 1938, she
started teaching at St. Thomas's Primary School and served the school for 34
years until her retirement in 1972.
She still remembers the happy times she spent teaching at St
Thomas' and her ex-students who are from all levels of society still recognize
her and never fail to greet her.
Although she is now in her 80's, she still leads a very active
life and on most days, can be seen chauffeur-driven around town in a white
Kancil!
Mrs Lai has 7 children, of whom 5 are living overseas in the
USA, Canada and Australia. She has 14 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Mr Lim Siong Hak
Mr Lim Siong Hak was born in a kampong near Kuching on 1st May
1903. He is the brother of the late Revd. Lim Siong Teck who served in Miri
Parishes before the War. Their parents died when they were young. Revd Lim Siong
Teck was supported by the Anglican Mission.
Mr Lim Siong Hak was educated at St Thomas' School from the year
1920 to 1927. After he left the school he worked for Sarawak Steamship Company,
Sibu and the Borneo Company. He joined the Sarawak Shell Company Ltd, Miri in
1935 and was there until the Second World War. He and his family returned to
Kuching during the Japanese occupation. After the war, he rejoined the Brunei /
Sarawak Shell Company Ltd in Brunei 1946 and was there until he retirement in
1957. He has enjoyed his retirement and has been an active member of St Mark's
Chapel, 14th Mile Kuching-Serian Road.
He is still healthy and follows the Anglican Outreach Group for
Praise and Worhsip at Pingiran A. He celebrated his 97th birthday last
May.
Mr Lim has two adopted children. A daughter, Mrs Clarissia Cheah
who has 5 children and now lives in Canada and a son, Deacon Philip Dennis Lim
who is a member of both the Old Thomian and the Pensioner Associations.
Mr Lim Siong Hak
has 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
