  • The Oh Rats Rattery adopts out pets and occasionally breeders and reserves the right to refuse any customers. This being stated that is a rare event. All adopters are asked to sign a contract whose bare-bones outline can be seen below (full contract will be up soon.)

    Pet Contract

  • Rat/s must be adopted by someone who is at least 18 years of age or have the permission of a consenting adult.
  • Rat/s must be adopted for the specific purpose of being a pet - not a feeder or breeder.
  • Rat/s must be taken care of properly for the duration of their life. This includes proper bedding, proper diet, water at all times, and a clean environment.
  • Rat/s must have a cage mate at home or be adopted in pairs unless otherwise specified.
  • Rat/s must have access to a rat-friendly vet when needed. Rat/s must not be purposely bred.
  • If Rat/s can no longer stay in current home the Oh Rats Rattery must be notified. All Rat/s may be returned to the Oh Rats Rattery at any point of their life for any reason but a refund will not be given after two weeks.
  • If Rat/s ever have a temperament problem the Oh Rats Rattery must be notified (so the discontinuation of a possibly aggressive line can be decided upon.)
  • The Rat/s owner must contact the Oh Rats Rattery upon their eventual demise with a cause of death (this is for the breeder to use to weed out possible weak or defective lines.)

    Breeder Contract:

  • Rat/s must have access to a rat-friendly vet when needed.
  • Rat/s must not be used to breed "feeders" or to supply pet shops.
  • Rat/s owner/s may not breed more babies then they can handle.
  • Female Rat/s must not be bred for the first time under 6 months or over 12 months.
  • Rat/s must not be bred repeatedly without rest.
  • Female Rat/s must not be bred more then four times in the duration of her life.
  • If a problem arises in offspring borne to Rat/s either with temperament or health then the Oh Rats Rattery must be notified.
  • All Rat/s must be given the proper environment for retirement - a pet environment.
