26.10.07 6-A-
All
the way from bitterly cold London, here are a few words on the 6-A-Side
exploits of the OC’s lads for the month of October.
I
know the lads would have been looking to make amends for the disappointment of
the previous round, picking up just six points from a possible 15 with only a
solitary win from the final five decisive games. Straight into it, the first
two games of the summer round (ah… summer… you b@stards!) were against,
traditionally, our toughest opposition.
First
up was Inter, and OC’s bounced back in spectacular fashion with a 5-1 thumping,
the biggest victory we’re ever recorded over our rivals. James hit two, Hirdy
also bagged a brace, and dirty Scouser Nev completed the scoring. A great
statement of intent ahead of the clash with Hamstrung the following week.
Hamstrung
must be desperate for a victory over OC’s, having not beaten us since our first
ill-tempered meeting back in the beginning of 2005. Their frustration was set
to continue though as Gus scored his first of the round and Neville got his
second in a 2-1 victory. It’s always great to see Tommy’s reaction to defeat
against OC’s!
Next
up, another team that has never beaten OC’s, the Headless Chooks. After taking
a 2-0 lead they must surely have fancied their chances of taking the three
points, but OC’s have never been a side to lie down (unlike Liverpool, whose
first team players are already discussing their chances of winning the UEFA
Cup) - Nev struck twice, and Gus and James got one a piece to complete a remarkable
comeback.
So
that brings you up to speed on what’s been happening in indoor. Nevchenko sits
at the top of the goal scoring chart with four, having scored in three
successive games. Gus has bagged a couple, while Tancey will want to get his
name on the board soon before Nev and Gus open up a gap in the all-time indoor
top scorers (I’ll get you an update on that soon). Richie has yet to keep a
clean sheet, but that’s surely down to some lazy defending from Jobba.
Wednesday
night 7-A-Side starts next week, always a sign that summer is kicking off, and
OC’s will be looking to improve on last year’s finish. Look forward to hearing
how we get on!
