A third consecutive
draw sees OC’s sitting fourth in the table with two games to go. Don’t know who
scored the goals (feel free to fill me in), but I hear Neville saw red in the
two all draw – the same result as our first round meeting. Whilst there is
still a chance, OC’s now need results to go their way if we are to secure first
spot for the last time this year. Next up are Sverge, a team who have beaten us
only once in six previous attempts.

OC’s responded to last
weeks defeat with a fourth win in five games, goals from Gus and Hirdy securing
all three points against Western Springs Wanderers. Gus, in fact, scored twice
on the night; I believe he turned one into his own net to gift Wanderers a
goal. This week we face a team we met last season, Tuborg Magic; the points
were shared last January in a scoreless draw.

It’s an unfamiliar
looking table for this final round of 2007 with OC’s, Inter and Hamstrung all
in the bottom half. It was a second consecutive score draw for OC’s as Gus
struck twice and Neville netted his sixth in what surely was a belter of a
game. This group isn’t going to be decided as quickly as I predicted; next week
it’s Volcanics, where we’ll be looking to better the 1-1 scoreline from our
last meeting.

OC’s great start to the
7-A-Side season was brought to an abrupt halt last Wednesday with a 3-0 defeat
to Newton City. That’s all I know! This week we play Western Springs Wanderers
(it will probably have been played by the time people see this) where we’ll be
hoping to get back on the winning trail.

OC’s were denied
victory on Thursday night when Hamstrung levelled the score with the last kick
of the game. It’s the fourth draw between the two sides in 14 meetings. James
extended his lead at the top of the scoring chart with both of OC’s goals; he
now has 10 in six games. Next week we face Inter, who will be looking to avenge
their 5-1 defeat the last time the sides met.

OC’s fine form
continued on Wednesday with a convincing 3-1 victory over America Futbol Club.
Graham, a new recruit to the OC’s family and fresh from scoring 11 goals down
in Tauranga, bagged a brace while Dan Green found the net for the second week
in succession. Next we face Newton City; last time out James claimed a hat
trick in a 3-1 victory.

OC’s qualified top of
the group last Thursday against Gen Hack, with leading scorer James grabbing
himself a hat-trick. Hirdy bagged himself a brace (one from the penalty spot)
while Nevcroucho gets some of the credit for the sixth goal – apparently it
took about 10 deflections on its way to the back of the net. He’ll claim
anything he will! The final group is all too familiar, with Inter, Hamstrung,
Volcanics, Sverge and Hold The Phone making up the numbers. With Hamstrung and
Inter first up, I don’t think I’m being too hasty by saying that we’ll have a
good idea who is going to take home the title after the first couple of rounds.

A solitary goal from
Dan Green secured victory against The Gel Pierros on Wednesday in our first
game in the Premier group. We faced the same opposition in last year’s first
group match, losing two nil on the night. Like I said before, OC’s improve with
every year. Next up its America Futbol Club, a team we know plenty about from our
inaugural season in ASFA football. Good luck lads.

05.11.07 A win & a draw to
kick off November...
The boys hit the ground
running in last Wednesday’s 7-A-Side competition with a comfortable 4-0 win
over Barny & The Wiggles. Jobba, Gus, Biddy & Gibbo were all on target
to ensure OC’s made the grade for a spot in the Premier group in our third
season in the competition. There’ll be plenty of battles to look forward to in
a group that also includes Sumo, Go Feet, America & Inter – we’ll need to
be top of our game to improve on last seasons fifth place finish. OC’s improve
with every season so I really look forward to seeing how we get on this year.
The following night it
was back to the Y for 6-A-Side as OC’s looked to maintain their 100% record.
Usually James emails me to let me know the result but I had to chase him this
week and it soon became apparent why. I don’t quite know how the scoring went,
but James did score both of OC’s goals in a 2-2 draw against Volcanics. He also
forgot about the back pass rule and put the ball past Richie to complete a
hat-trick (of sorts). Despite the dropped points OC’s are still in pole position
and victory this week against Gen Hack (a team that have never beaten OC’s)
will comfortably see us through top of the group. By the way James, your first
goal in that game was OC’s 350th goal in indoor football, shame the evening was
tarnished by that OG!
Until next week!
