26.08.05 6-A-SIDE
RESULT AUG 25 – O’Carrolls
FC 9 – 2 Woftam
A great
start to the new round and the winning streak just keeps going, our 6th victory
in a row, and nine goals to our name for the second week running. Keith Lyne
stepped in for Tim and notched two goals for himself, Gus scored again,
bringing his tally to three goals. It’s the battle for top scorer that’s
getting interesting though, and Nevchenko done himself no harm last night with
four goals for the second consecutive week. This sees the Scouser top the table
with 11 goals, two ahead of Paul Tancell, who’s on nine. Paul continues his
record of scoring every week, just the one last night though. An own-goal
brought our tally to nine. No goals from Paul Gibbons last night, but he was
always a threat and there are definitely a few more goals to come from him.
Woftam caught us out at the back a couple of times and punished us with two
goals, no fault to stand in keeper Matt, he played well again last night and
pulled off some terrific saves. Next week it’s the Volcanics, they were on the
receiving end of a 5 - 1 defeat last time the teams met, lets hope we can keep
on winning.

19.08.05 6-A-SIDE
RESULT AUG 18 – O’Carrolls
FC 9 – 1 Headless Chooks
We
hit the ground running in this game, something we don’t often manage. We were two
goals up before half the team had even gotten a touch. Nevchenko notched up
four goals, bringing his tally to 7, but Paul Tancell remains top scorer, two
on the night gives him a total of 8. Incidentally, Paul has scored in every
game of this round so far. He’d have probably pointed that out to us sooner or
later anyway, eh Paul? Our pacy winger Paul Gibbons got two; one of which might
possibly have maimed the keeper had he made contact with it. The man has a
bullet left foot! Gus got his name on the scoresheet with a strike from
distance, a well-taken goal. Mat played a great game on his debut in goal –
he’s good Richie. He wasn’t really responsible for the goal we conceded, that
was Tim’s fault. I only mention it (twice) Tim because in recent weeks it’s
been me that’s been at fault for the odd goal… so… Cheers!…Dog Blue! We go into
Group A undefeated and we’ll be looking to finish higher than fourth this time
round.

10.08.05 TAURANGA
- I think I can
safely say that everybody had a weekend to remember in Tauranga…
Day One:
We
left Auckland at 6pm on Friday; 6 dozen beers, nudity and umpteen toilet stops
later we arrived in the metropolis that is Tauranga. Quick check into our
hostel and we were ready for a big night out! And a big night out it was. Right
from the off Nevchenko & Paul
‘Snake Hips’ Tancell were trying to charm a couple of the locals; they stuck at
that task for the weekend. Lots more beer consumed, and it was a matter of time
before at least one of us got chucked out of a bar; Gibbo was that one. Well,
it wouldn’t be a weekend away without a fracas. This one was minor; we were
back busting moves and breaking hearts in a matter of moments. Our Player Of
The Season turned a few heads when he tried to swallow a pensioner whole; she
got out alive, but she’ll never be the same after that grapple. Matt,
outstanding work my friend… now get yourself down the nearest GUM clinic (Timmy
and Keith will tell you where it is).
Day
Two:
A few
cloudy heads, but we were up and at it early. Badgers Big Breakfast & a
pint was the order of the day (or some fruit if that’s what takes your fancy).
And then we were off to the Mount for some beach football and… you guessed it…
more beer! For a midwinters day, the weather was fan-bloody-tastic! So good in
fact it provoked a touch of nude swimming… pants-on-head style. What would the
locals think??? Tancell & Gus didn’t care… they were happy… Onto the
driving range where a few bystanders nearly got knocked out, quick round of
mini-golf (well, apart from Tancell) and it was back to get ready for another
big night. A top meal at Lone Star lined the bellies, and we were back
terrorizing locals before Bundy had time to thrust his pelvis at you! Oh how we
danced!!! Emotions were running high; Dave Edge announced his love of men;
Keith Lyne twirled a Princess Diana look-alike until she was hypnotized by the
coy Irishman; and Bundy broke it down Hammer-style to anybody that glanced in
his direction. Some fat Geordie ravaging a steak & cheese pie provided a
few laughs before we turned in for the night.
Day
Three:
Up and out of there, but not before a farewell drink and one last song
for Freddie Parker. He’s off back to England – we’ll miss you Fred! Good luck.
Another 6 dozen beers for the return trip and we stopped at every (decent)
playground on the way. Well, we’re all still kids at heart aren’t we! It was a
fantastic weekend. A few of the lads carried it on at O’Carrolls, but I bowed
out at that point, so the story ends here. Thanks to everybody in the team for
what’s been a superb football season. It’s been great getting to know you all,
and I can’t wait for more of the same next season.
