Event 4 -
of the Series was run in Light winds and small swell at Noosa.
The course went as planned to Sunshine beach and back. There were parts
of rough water around Hells Gate but it soon ended with a smooth paddle
across Alexander Bay.
With the average time being just over an hour, the paddlers who didn't
take any water were feeling the heat even before half way. Considering
it was so hot and flat it was great to see how close the racing was
with the Top Ten all within 4 minutes of each other.
There was a good battle up in the leed with Chris Maynard and Matt Carter
just ahead of Darren Humberstone, Mick Smith and Kenny Powell. A great
race in the OC2 Divison with all 4 crews close together. Bodo and Harley
just held off Gordon and Helen. Well done to Carolyn Mood for being
the first woman across the line and beating quite a few of the men.
Thanks to those who had to travel quite a distance to get to the race. Its always
good to race Darren Humberstone and Adam Stafford down from Tanum Sands.
Good luck to Darren and Adam who will be competing in the Northern Waipui
Final at Arlie Beach next weekend. It was good that Bodo from Carins could
fit in the race while he was in town for work. And its great to see Kenny Powell
and Lucy back in the land of OZ for a while.
Congratulations to our
Kanu Culture
random draw prize winners Darren Humberstone and Loch Ledford.
No Dought they will be fitted out with some cool gear by the next race.
Thanks to Steve Wade from Noosa and Jeremy Davey from Panamuna for
helping out with a lot of organising for this race. The race could not
have been run with out them.
Thanks again to the sponsors of the Series
Kanu Culture
But thanks to all the paddlers for supporting the series and making it what it is today.
Its been really good getting the feed back which has been positive.
