Event 5 -
Well what a race, there was wind , there was swell what else could you
ask for. Hmmmm maybe not as much side swell near the end would have been
nicer. But never the less the best downhill run this season so far.
Congratulations to all paddlers for completing the course as it was
a tuff race, it was good to see the majority of paddlers coming in not
that far from the first paddler - Chris Maynard.
Chris had a good race again taking control right from the start choosing
the inside line working every bumb as long as possible. Mick Wade had a
good paddle on the outside line coming in 2nd overall just ahead of
Matt Carter who thought he had 2nd until Mick popped up out of nowhere.
Once again the OC2 Division was contested well with Helen and Gordon
taking the gold by a couple of minutes from a sprint finish between
Harley , Greg and Tracey , Erica who where both on the same wave with
nothing between them after 12kms.
Good paddle by Robyn Saultry for the first Women over the line in a
well respected time. Its good to see Robyn has some competition with
Carolyn Mood not that far behind.
