David Dunlap Observatory - Richmond Hill, Ontario About Observatory Hill Homeowners Association

This association was formed in 1988 when over 100 of the residents in Observatory Hill, situated on the NW corner of Bayview and 16th Avenue, in the Town of Richmond Hill, got together to represent the homeowners in discussions with the Town of Richmond Hill over proposed development of the Jail Farm Lands, including the commercial / industrial zoning proposal for all the land just south of 16th Avenue.   Since then, the association has successfully lobbied the town, opposing the proposed Esso / Easy Lube facility and requesting improved traffic controls, including the stop lights on the corner of Fern and 16th Avenue.

We believe that a residents' association is there to support our community and to use the varied experience and talents that are present in the community.  The money we raise is there for the whole community.  It acts as a reserve so that we can quickly mobilize should there be an issue that we believe needs intervention.  That issue may be a planning / zoning issue, a maintenance issue such as roads, signs, parks etc..

Our web site makes that mobilization and communication all the more easy.

We encourage new residents to join and become involved in the association and also indicate their willingness to run for positions on the executive.
