Well,
we figured we had missed something in our crazed sprint along
the Devil's
Bridge trail the previous day and like
the masochists that we are, decided to try it again first thing after breakfast.
This time it would be at a slower tempo. In reality, the trail could probably be
walked comfortably in 45 minutes if you walked at an average pace and never
really
stopped
to enjoy the view. An hour would be reasonable with some stops and I took a lot
of pictures including some self portraits of the two of us along with some
experimentation with the new camera. This added some time and we made the loop
in about 80 minutes. It would have been much easier if we had not sprinted down
and up the day before. I actually found sprinting down those steps as bad if not
worse than sprinting up. On our second trip, we were alone the whole time which
made for a peaceful journey.
The
goal for the day was Criccieth and the route took us through the pretty welsh
villages of Dolgellau and Barmouth. On
the road, we passed the town of Furnace and Furnace Falls. The old waterwheel is
in dry dock at this point, but the falls were beautiful and just off the road,
requiring no strenuous hike.
We were also
able to satisfy
the castle a day requirement at beautiful

overlooks a small, calm beach. Manya greeted us and showed us to our non ensuite
room which was fantastic. This
turned out to be our favorite stop. The
bay window looks
out on the water and it was tempting to just sit in front of the window and
watch the world go by. Instead, we were off to dinner at "The Prince of
Wales" where they were out (gasp) of both of their cask ales so I was
forced to drink a sooth flow. It deeply disturbed me but I lived through it.
