The BZ comp was probably one of NZ's most successful comps (Toby and Hubb
and $10,000 worth of prizes) how much work did it take to organise it?
Kev)
It took quite a bit of work with hooking up stuff in the USA but I had
heaps of help from sponsors and alot of people behind the scenes who put
in hours of work.
Ed)
Do you get stressed that things will go wrong before the comps?
Kev) Not really, but when things do start to get a bit tight I just take
it easy, it usually works out, if not there is a lot of extra running about
to do.
Ed)
Do you feel that you will be able to match the BZ comp for next year?
Kev) Hopefully, as I see
it things can only get bigger and better for
bodyboarding with the contacts
I have made.
Ed)
Any areas that you feel NZ comps need to improve in?
Kev) Just the overall organisation,
the judging, tallying etc., there just needs to be a stronger level of
this, to make things more precise.
Ed)
Any advice that you can give people who may be thinking about running a
booger comp?
Kev) Just try and get as
much help as you can from guys who have done it before and get as much
info as you can from experienced people, also look at each rejection as
a new opening.
Ed)
Most bodyboarders dream about getting to hang out with a pro but you actually
had Toby Player staying at your house, What was that like?
Kev) It was cool, but he
is really mellow, he just liked to be treated like a normal guy, rather
than some god, he has some crazy stories too!!
Ed)
Anything else you would like to add?
Kev) Bodyboarding is about
to explode, just like snowboarding did about 5 years ago, it all comes
down to lots and lots of money, and when we get that is is gonna be insane,
I'm just glad to be there for the ride! |
