Haven is an rpg (role-playing game). You should be familiar with rpgs if you intend on joining. It's not based off any books, there are no "canon" characters,  you make your own. For the rpers here that's the beauty of it.

It takes place in real time, present day New York City. We don't use messageboards- we use a chat room which once you join you will be given the link to. If you are unfamiliar with how to rp in a chatroom someone from the rp can teach you, just contact
me letting me know that you are interested.

There are a number of species that your character could be, and a list of them including information is provided.

Wendigos
Also known as "boogeymen," wendigos are creatures that live off the fear of others, generally using their natural illusionary magic to trick and frighten their prey. They aren't born, but created from humans. The human must be close to death to be receptive of the wendigo's power, and they in fact must die before the change can take place. This often leaves the new fledge in a coma for months afterward.

In the modern world their appearences would pass as goth or extreme punk. They will never look the same as they did as a human, often to the point they wouldn't be recognizable. Common changes are the skin turning white or a pale cold color, somtimes developing a mask-like patterning if the creatures personallity is mischevious. Fair headed humans will go platinum blonde, or pastal shades, or more recently, bright colours. The most common color is still black. Wendigos may have unusual height (tall or short) and appear anorexic. Females may have corsetted waists or mildly distorted facial features. They can stop their bodies from aging for however long they want, but they can't reverse the process (For example, a child sired at Six and grow their bodies until 20, and stop the progress there.)

Their main source of food is the fear of their victims, complemented by raw flesh and/or blood. Wendigos can be sustained on small amounts of said food, but then there are some who will litterally rip their victim to bite sized peices.

Their main weaknesses are sunlight, which will kill them instantly, as well as severing the spinal column (this does not need to be done with silver weaponry), though the second method of killing is not common knowledge. Wendigos are required to submit to other immortals, and may only attack them in self defence. In their first year of their new life, they are easily killed. Their mortal names are a source of power over them. If a mortal know their name, the wendigo cannot harm them. They have extremely weak mindblocks, if any.
