Haven is an rpg (role-playing game). You should be familiar with rpgs if you intend on joining. It's not based off any books, there are no "canon" characters,  you make your own. For the rpers here that's the beauty of it.

It takes place in real time, present day New York City. We don't use messageboards- we use a chat room which once you join you will be given the link to. If you are unfamiliar with how to rp in a chatroom someone from the rp can teach you, just contact
me letting me know that you are interested.

There are a number of species that your character could be, and a list of them including information is provided.

Naiads are the female protectors of bodies of water, a class of nymph. Other nymphs tend to other parts of nature. The classes of nymphs and naiads are dryads (forests), naiads (springs and rivers), nereids (the Mediterranean), oceanids (the sea), oreads (mountains), limoniads (meadows), limniads (lakes, marshes and swamps) and napaea (valleys).

Naiads are physically shaped like humans, but it's easy for a trained eye to spot the difference. Their skin is often pale, completely bleached of any colour except for the blue of their veins and lips, only gaining tanned colour with dehydration. Typically, naiads are very beautiful, and have a streak of jealous possession when it comes to their significant others. Naiads have also been known in the past to seduce men, then drown them.

Naiads are one of the few immortal races without an aversion to silver, holy water, or crosses, since they are spirits rather than demons. Their main weakness is their affinity to water and physical need for it. A naiad is bound to her specific body of water and will die if she is denied access to it. A true naiad needs to visit her water almost daily, and those of diluted blood cannot go without a visit for more than a week, until the blood is thinned for many generations. Even out of water, a naiad requires a great deal of water simply to remain hydrated.

Naiads have a much higher body temperature and faster metabolism than humans. They require more water to stay hydrated unless they do this magically, and although poisons and alcohol affect them much more rapidly and to a greater effect than humans, it burns off faster.
Granted to a naiad is elemental magic related to water. It is in her power to manipulate water, ice, and snow however she wishes. In her body of water, she can become a pure spirit form. Naiads and their children can breathe water with perfect ease. As a symbol of fertility, she has some powers of seduction, but these aren't often used unless the naiad wants to reproduce or has fallen in love.
