Haven is an rpg (role-playing game). You should be familiar with rpgs if you intend on joining. It's not based off any books, there are no "canon" characters,  you make your own. For the rpers here that's the beauty of it.

It takes place in real time, present day New York City. We don't use messageboards- we use a chat room which once you join you will be given the link to. If you are unfamiliar with how to rp in a chatroom someone from the rp can teach you, just contact
me letting me know that you are interested.

There are a number of species that your character could be, and a list of them including information is provided.

Humans, of course, are mortal creatures, and also the most popular species on the earth. Compared to most supernatural beings, they are weak, short-lived, and their senses are not that great, either. However, contrary to belief, they are also really a lot more intelligent than the supernatural, because they have the ability to change the way they think, while many of the immortals do not.

Humans generally do not last long in the safe haven of the immortals - especially common humans. However, there are four different types.

Mages: Mages are humans that wield magic. Often times only fire, telepathic, or telekinetic mages are the only kind that can last. Generally the mage will be at his strongest in his mid-twenties to his late forties. Although mages can fight, they generally prefer not to, and are usually not very strong. Usually, mages are the most intelligent kind of human.

Common Human: The common human is usually a simple human without magical ability. Generally, they can fight, and might be smart, but overall these are the kind to first die if they enter the Haven.

Hunters/Slayers: Hunters, or slayers, are humans that train specifically to hunt the supernatural and kill them. They carry silver weapons, take classes to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the immortals, usually have magic, and generally hunt in pairs or more. A typical hunter, or slayer, is very smart, but tends to have a lack of people skill. They are usually loners, have drug-problems, and are overall fairly impertinent and sassy. The only difference between a hunter and a slayer is that slayers are people hired to kill, but hunters are those that hunt supernatural beings for personal reasons, and derive pleasure out of killing them. In Vito, Eltren, there is a specific guard unit that deals with killing the supernatural - normally only vampire and werewolves, but can kill others too. They generally train for years, and some of them even live through the job. Quite a few are past military, therefore having a cool head for the action. Slayers tend to live for only a few months in Haven, because the number of supernatural beings there is just too overwhelming.
Blood-babies: Blood-babies are humans that sell their blood to a vampire in exchange for their life. They generally are very sickly and passive people, and are also loners - be it because they are shy or annoyingly cynical and usually all around ill tempered. Blood-babies, however, do generally live through the vampire attacks, because of the fact that it's easy blood - they usually don't struggle much, and only ask for a little coin in return. They are usually always rather weak, and are not very good at fighting, and tend to die at an early age. Normally, they are only for vampires, but once and a rare while, you find a baby for the demons. Usually, this is only what people pick as a last resort to make money
