Prom
This spring when we first started dating, I was going to miss his prom because I go to college so far away from him. So, he planned a prom for us while I was home over spring break. We both got dressed up, I got him a boutonniere and he got me a corsage. Then he took me out to dinner at Red Lobster. I noticed when we were driving home that I had no idea where we were going. I found out later that he was taking a long way back so that my sister could finish setting everything up. You see, he took me to Farren Park, and in the gazebo was a radio with a bunch of tapes of my favorite music, a box of chocolates, and a bouquet of roses. We danced all night, only stopping to watch the sun set over the lake. It was the most romantic things that anyone has ever done for me. After we were done dancing we went out for ice cream and shared a cone. It was definately the best prom ever!
Scrub Jays
Brian wants to be an ornithologist (person who studies birds) when he finishes school. I must admit that while I want to be a zoologist of some sort, birds aren't high on my list of favorite animals (with the exception of penguins). But for Brian, I try to at least attempt to like things that he likes. One day he asked me if I wanted to feed scrub jays, I agreed. I am so glad that I did! It was one of the coolest experiences ever! You put a peanut on your hand, and a wild bird will land on your hand, arm, or head and then take the nut from you. I couldn't believe it. To interact with nature so first hand and to see how trusting these birds were, it was such a wonderful thing to witness. I must admit now, that feeding those scrub jays is one of my favorite dates.
Putt-Putt Golfing
Let me just say outright that I am not a good golfer. I have only been putt-putting about 5 times my whole life. I knew that this would be a fun experience because Brian and I are very competative. We made a deal that whoever won would take the other out to dinner, so we fought hard to be the one to treat the other. It was quite entertaining, I kept having problems hitting the ball, I liked to hit it too hard which caused me to lose my ball in the water. Brian, being the sweetheart that he is fished it out for me everytime. I seemed to be doing very badly because I just didn't know how to golf and Brian was more and more sure that he was going to be taking me out to dinner, even though this was my date and I wanted to pay for everything. A few times I actually got a hole-in-one which surprised us both I think. Then when he went to tally it up he discovered that I had actually beat him. He couldn't belive it, because it seemed as though overall, he had golfed better than me. It was quite funny! And I got to take him out to dinner after all.
