| Week of 9/15/03 Club News We finally had our first club meeting and what a meeting it was. The members of Nubian Sistas are a crazy bunch of women who can switch from ghetto to professional in a blink of an eye. However, during all the fun, we did managed to get a lot accomplished including choosing officers, creating rules for our meetings (only one rule - cell phones off) and deciding on members' responsibilities. We ate, laughed, and than we ate some more. I must say, I'm really enjoy myself and I'm looking forward to our next get together (God, help us all). Girls Night Out In October, we're planning to see the play Lord, All Men Can't Be Dogs. Sistas, email me, if you would like to attend (I want a definite count by September 22). Club Photos Hopefully, our photos will be posted by next week so keep a eye out for them If you would like a picture of yourself on the Website, than email it to our Photographer, Crystal at [email protected]. All members' email addresses (the ones that gave me permission to) are posted on the About Us Page. Hopefully Member's BIOS and photos will soon follow. Members, if you don't mind having your email address posted then let me know. Book of the Month The Nubian Sistas showed what freaks we truly are, by picking The Sistas of APF by Zane, as our next book of the month. You can read the book summary by clicking here. Members if you want to order the book with the group then, place your order with Nicky J, our Treasurer, by Monday September 22. Her email is [email protected]. Next Month Meeting Our next meeting will be on Sunday October 19, 2003 at 3:00 pm. Our hostess is our secretary, Monique. She's a little nervous Sistas, so lets give her a hand. Love ya all.... Joy |

| Week of 8/18/03 Our First book of the Month is "Diary Of a Groupie" by Omar Tyree. I started reading the book and I must say it's a page turner. The main character, Tabitha Knight, is very intriguing and I can't wait to discuss her in our meeting. Unfortunately, many of you have not even purchased the book yet. I don't want to point any elbows but you know who you are. So I decided to postpone the first meeting until further notice. For those of you still having problems locating the book click here for a list of options. Love ya, Joy Week of 8/25/03 Welcome First I would like to welcome Patricia and Sandra to our group. I'm so glad they joined our club and I'm looking forward to discussing the book with them. Our First Meeting Hopefully, I will be able to let everyone know when our first meeting will be by next week. If your interested in hosting this meeting then email me and let me know. Everyone please, please, please take the survey. The results will be use to schedule our meeting. I'm planning it for a Saturday between the hours of 2-4pm. Please let me know if this sounds good to you. Till next week... Joy Updated Pages List of Characters Survey Membership Information Week of 9/2/03 Happy Labor Day. Our first meeting will be on Sept 13, 2003. A email will be sent to you with all the details. ...... Joy Week of 9/4/03 Finally So, we finally set a date for our first club meeting (Sept 13). I can't wait. I'm really interested in knowing what everyone thought of the book. Club members, be prepared to act a fool. We're going to play some fun trivia games and ice breakers. We will also pick our next book club selection and decide who will host the next meeting. Oh, and make sure you're prompt. I got something special planned for anyone who's late (and a prize for the first person to arrive). The menu we planned, sounds yummy and I'm so glad I haven't started my diet yet. Crystal will be taking pictures for the web site, so I hope no one's camera shy. Girls' Night Out I thought it would be nice to have a girls' night out, so last weekend, some members of Nubien Sistas went to a comedy club. The night started out good and the comedians were funny, but the treatment from the staff has me doubting that we would ever go back there again. However, we enjoyed hanging out with each other and I'm sure we'll do it again soon New Members If you know anyone who would like to become a member, feel free to bring them to the meeting. Till next week... Joy |
