Descendants of the 136th New York Infantry Regiment have accomplished:

*  Advocated the removal of the old Gettysburg Visitor Center from this regiment's battle line & new Visitor Center dedicated at ribbon cutting ceremony Sept.27-28, 2008.

* Identified the mislabeled grave of 136th NY Medal of Honor soldier Dennis Buckley.  His gravestone was replaced in Marietta, GA cemetery.

* Simeon Ikins' mislabeled grave corrected at Gettysburg

* 90% of regimental soldiers' gravesites located

Veterans of the 136th NY State Infantry posed for the photo at the dedication of their regimental monument on Taneytown Road, Gettysburg.
The Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park WAS on the very ground defended by the 136th New York State Infantry.
This regiment suffered 109 casualties during the Battle of Gettysburg, including 26 men who were killed.  Read our Congressional testimony

The National Park Service completed a new Visitor Center and has demolished the old one as of Spring 2009.  The Gettysburg battle line of the 136 NYSV will be restored.

THE 136th NEW YORK INFANTRY LOST 109 MEN JUST LEFT OF THE RED CONVERTIBLE....

This was the title of an ad in the July 2002 "America's Civil War" magazine that prominently mentioned our "very bravest men" of the 136th NYSV.  The ad was created for the fundraising campaign by the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation.

On March 25, 2006, the National Park Service held a special gravesite ceremony at the National Cemetery located in Marietta, Georgia for Medal of Honor recipient Dennis Buckley of the 136 NYSV Infantry.
