Duplicate Titles

These titles are duplicate titles.  In other words, I have more than one (1) copy of the song either on more than one format, LP - CD - Tape - Book, etc.,  or by more than one artist.

As I said on my home page, I have over 30,000 titles of songs in my personal Data Base and I'm adding to that on a somewhat regular basis.  Because of that, the numbers listed here only represent what I had at that time that I compiled this list.  I'm sure if you want to figure out the percentages, that would not change too much,  go ahead and figure it if you want to, knock your self out, I'm not going to do that.

For instance, I had 45 listings for the Gospel song "Amazing Grace."

I had 21 listings for the song "Almost Persuaded" which can be quite confusing sometimes.   Now you wonder why that can be confusing?  Well it depends on which version or book I have it in and which artist is performing. That particular song title has 2 distinct variations or versions.  One is used in some Gospel Hymnals and performed as such,  in refrence to being persuaded to commit to follow Jesus.  Then that same title is also used for an old bar tune about a guy, or gal,  who was almost persuaded to do something that maybe they shouldn't have done.   Sort of a whiskey drinking kind a song..... not one you would sing in church, or shouldn't anyway!

Now.... to make it even a little more interesting.  I wondered just how many times a name, or a word might be used in a title.  For instance the word "The" is used for a lot of beginning  titles.  So much that I rarely included it in my titles.  If I do include it, it is usually at the end of the song title.  For example the song "The Red River Valley" I list it as "Red River Valley, The" so I don't count that word "The" in my research.

 OK, enough.  What word was repeated or used the most in my Data Base?  The word or words containing "You - You'll - You're - You've, or Yours " in refrence to the sonng name like,  "Your Cheatin' Heart",  it was used 605 times.  It came in second.

Songs can be kinda selfish.  The highest most often starting word used, other than "The", as I mentioned earlier, was "I - I'm - I've",  for a total of 2322!!!!!

Hope I'm not boring you.  Because I have more......  I'll make it easy on you.  I'll list the staring word used the most and then show the number of how many times it was used right behind it,  like this:

..Little = 280
                                    ....       Lonesome-Lonely-or, Lonliness = 138
We = 250.
Who = 69
.......................What - Whatever = 208
....When = 394
......Where = 133
.Why = 90

Of course:
This = 124
....There = 228
.That = 136

For "proper" or "given" names most listed was:  Ruby = 34

All total, I only have taken just a sampling of my collection.  My sample total is only 49 listings of the most used multiple titles.  It is by no means a complete list.
I had several titles that share a multiple use category of 31, for example:
Just A Closer Walk = 31
Precious Memories = 31
Sally = 31

Are you tired?  I know I am.  So I'll leave you with just this last one:   Whew = 1
That is actually the name of the song.  It's on the LP soundtrack of "The Graduate."

If you really want to see my entire collection of 49 most used titles, just send me an email requesting such.  I'll be more than happy to share it with you.   I would like to put my entire collection list on the web,  but not real sure just how to go about doing that.

Thanks for checking this out.
