World Masters, Edmonton, Canada, 2005

The World Masters Games are due to be held in Edmonton, Canada, July 22-31. They're hoping to attract 16,000 to 20,000 participants. Costs will be covered through a combination of government funding, participant fees and sponsorship, but participants are responsible for paying all of their own expenses. The World Masters Games will require approximately 4,000 volunteers.
The official sports are: athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, 10-pin bowling, canoeing, cycling, diving, golf, ice hockey, orienteering, rowing, rugby (union), shooting, soccer, fast-pitch softball, slo-pitch softball, squash, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball and weightlifting.

Here is the good news: anyone over 30 can enter! You don't have to be selected, just get a team together and get on over there. Darryl O'Brien is working with the Edmonton organizing committee. You can contact Darryl at: [email protected]

November 2002

We've heard it argued that perhaps Schlegels cause more damage than the average carbon fibre blade. Itg even raised it's head on the NZ Forum.. Do we have an argument on our hands, or is it just blood?. Vote now, or forever hold a piece of what was your hand....

Brenton Harrison, Fireman and sometimes canoe polo player

Next time your house is on fire, you might meet a fellow canoe polo player in Brenton Harrison. True, he hasn't been playing of late, thanks to his new business installing billboards via abseiling ropes, and his fire-fighting duties take up a lot of time, when he isn't modelling that is! The new fire-fighter's calendar is out now. It's for a charitable cause, so get one for someone else for Christmas and do your bit for the community!

New Pakuranga Canoe Club committee appointed
