| There are 2 major features of North Bays topography. The escarpment -- It stretches east-west from city limits to beyond Trout lake. From Lake Nippising to the top is about 105m. The main part of the escarpment rises 70m in less than half of a kilometre. The lowlands -- This is the area below the escarpment to the south. From Lake Nippising it rises less than 10m. Many of this area is swamp or marsh. Other areas -- These trails are to the north or to the east of the escarpment. They are mainly hilly with a combination of the best/worst of the lowlands |
