| Welcome to NJ's Notes JULY 2002 |
| Wed., July 18 th, 2002 I have decided to refuse to feel guily about my lazy literary efforts.... however, next month I am getting back online full-time. Summer has been just wonderful so far. My garden is growing and exceeding all expectations. I realize now I was probably a little over zealous with my plantings and am going to be up to my eyebrows in pumpkins, tomatoes and peppers. There are worse problems to have though I suppose. My few failures have been my roses - which so far have died back to two barren little stumps at the base of a lovely home-built trellis. There are still dandelions gallore creeping up in my lawn - I mentioned to one friend that I'd never given those pesky weeds much thought one way or another until they were growing in my grass!! I've also discovered that the best place for catnip is not in the middle of your herb garden, unless you want every loose-running neighbourhood feline sitting right there munching and rolling away... The catnip now lives in a basket - a hanging basket - a high hung basket!!! The days are settling into a nice pattern - up earlier than any of my friends would ever believe, coffee on the deck, an hour or two of garden work, watering or mowing the lawn as needs be, walking down to the lake with the kayak to paddle and explore for a few hours... I am heading back into the city for two weeks soon, and know I will miss my little oasis very much. The fun part will be coming back - more fun even as the guys are coming up for a visit - YEAH!!! We decided instead of cottaging this year, we'll enjoy the great outdoors here. I am hoping to get some pictures up of my garden, and of the boys' visit, so keep checking the photo page. Take care and I sincerely hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am mine !!! love ... NJ |
