| 12 / 07 / 02 My gosh, a whole month with no writing... I hope I do better during December. I had told Mom we weren't getting an Indian Summer this year, and was I ever right... it's like we went straight from a mild, beautiful autumn to cold, cold, cold. Didn't even have a chance to properly cut down the garden, and with the ground frozen, well, I'll be pulling out carrots in the spring!! It's been too cold to even decorate properly outside, but I did get garland and lights up around the door, and around the windows and doors at the back. My tree is up, the Christmas videos and cd's dug out, and I've even started baking.... It's rather unbelievable that we're now this late in the year. Got a call from Eddie and the boys at the poker game - seems they've just realized how late it was too and who was going too the decorations for the bar this year??? Ed's now in a panic, because he just may have to do it himself - actually, I know that that'll never happen... he'd get Dwight to do it before he ever decorated himself!! 12 / 14 / 02 Well, so much for keeping up with my journal writing - it just seems like lately I am so busy... not that I am complaining.... Some things have let up a bit though - I had been doing modelling for a life-drawing class, and was putting in a few days a week there, but the semester is over and I don't go back till January. Our weather has been funny the last few days - bitter cold gave way to rain and + 5 degrees ... needless to say things were beginning to get messy. The temperature dropped down a bit again, and tonite it's snowing - beautiful little glittering snowflakes .... I love this place!!!! Now my computer is becoming possessed yet again, so must go ..... Dear Santa - I would like a new computer!!! 12 / 18 / 02 We're back to cold weather and lots of snow ... and now it's only 1 week to Christmas, wow.... The biggest news around here is that Kari had her baby - a little boy, 6lbs and some odd ounces.... Brody was born on the 16 th at 5:30 pm. I went to go see Mom and baby yesterday... Kari is pretty tired and sore yet, but will be going home today. Brody is a cutie - quite the expressive little face already!! 12 / 22 / 02 Today was a very cool day ... Stacey and I first went to visit Kari and baby Brody. I have the beginnings of an ugly cold, so didn't hold him, but Stacey had him snuggled up on her chest. I couldn't believe he was already lifting his head right up!! Six days old, and that much strength in his neck.... After our visit, we picked up Stac's girls and went out to a lake where her hubby and his friend were ice fishing. We parked the jeep, walked down a short trail, then head out over the frozen water. The guys had this little evergreen shelter built, and a fire going in some big rocks along the shore... The snow was coming down pretty hard, but what an amazing way to spend a winter afternoon. I took some pictures, and will post them as soon as I finish the film over Christmas. Oh yes, also went to see "Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers" last nite. I wouldn't go so far as Tamara to say it was as good if not better than "Saving Private Ryan", "Gladiator" or "Braveheart", but it was well worth the wait.... My gosh though, another year now till the last one.... |
