Through experience helping my Non Profit clients find the appropriate sources to advertise their positions, I have compiled a comprehensive list of qualified media resources. These sources are often used as alternatives or in addition to the major local newspaper and internet recruiting sites. Other sources may exist- but, if they're not here it's because they're hard to find�which means they will be hard for your future candidates to find too! Here you will find a brief description of each of the sources below. Also included will be cost information, and in many cases recent, subjective feedback from actual users of the source. What originally started out as a small survey on behalf of a few of my clients to investigate the effectiveness of a few of these sources, snowballed into hours and hours of inquiries to hundreds of organizations- ultimately for the benefit all Non Profit/Social Service recruiters!

The original print edition-(Opportunity NOCs (Nonprofit Organization Classifieds) was started by The Management Center in 1986 as a way to connect nonprofit employers and job seekers. The weekly newsletter quickly became an essential source for nonprofit job seekers in Northern California, Southern California, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston and Dallas. Today, print editions of Opportunity NOCs contain an average of 1,100 job listings per month and reach an estimated readership of over 150,000 individuals.

While building on the experience and success of current print editions of Opportunity Knocks, the Opportunityknocks.org website is now a completely separate entity. Our comprehensive, national job database contains hundreds of jobs not included in the regional print editions, and many of our on-line users--both employers and job seekers--are not in the urban markets served by these publications.
Ads posted on Opportunityknocks.org are not automatically listed in the Northern California or other print editions of Opportunity Knocks / Non Profit Directions, nor are ads placed in various print editions automatically listed here on-line. To meet your current employment-related needs and goals, you may wish to use either this on-line site or print editions, or both.

The New Social Worker Online is the online version of the only national magazine in the U.S. devoted to social work students and recent graduates. One feature of the site is an Online Career Center and a job listing page. The site's visitors are both new and experienced, professionally trained social workers who are looking for ways to advance their careers. The job listing page, where your ad will appear, receives an average of about 8000 visits per month. Job listings range from entry level to management level.
