The event will include men's and women's races and is the first Highlands-hosted RMAC championship in several years.
Meet activities will begin around 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, (details to be updated later) at the Pendaries Golf Course, approximately 15 miles north of Las Vegas off N.M. 518.
A coaches meeting will be held at Charlie's Spic-n-Span near the NMHU campus 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20.
Cross country is probably the RMAC's strongest sport on a national level. The Western State men and the Adams State women are the defending national champions in NCAA II and have held a virtual stranglehold on the top two spots in the nation in both men's and women's cross country for much of the past decade. In the most recent NCAA II polls (Oct. 10), ASC and WSC were ranked first and second, and CU-Colorado Springs was seventh in the women's ranks.
The RMAC women's race will feature the host Cowgirls as well as ASC, WSC, CUCS, Colorado Christian, Colorado Mines, Fort Hays State, Fort Lewis, Mesa State, Regis, and Nebraska-Kearney. The men's field will include the host Cowboys and WSC, ASC, Colorado Christian, Colorado Mines, Fort Hays State, Fort Lewis, Regis, Nebraska-Kearney and CUCS.
