In 1981, nine years after the death of his wife Montienne, Creed met and fell in love with Aviva Cullinane. Aviva was a feisty Israeli woman who had just divorced her Irish husband, and had come to LA to pursue her doctorate in international business at UCLA. Creed rescued her one night from a pair of DiNerezza vamps, and Aviva thanked him by first kissing him senseless, then punching him in the jaw for treating her like a defenseless woman. Six months later, Aviva discovered she was pregnant, and she and Creed were married in a small civil ceremony. Ashleigh was born on February 10th, 1982.

The constant stress on Creed to keep his duties as Watcher as well as his two older children a secret, even from his wife, proved to be too much of a strain on Aviva and Creed's marriage, and they divorced in 1990. Ashleigh was unaware of both her siblings' existence or of her father's role until her mother's recent death following a long battle with ovarian cancer. Ashleigh was contacted by Jude Robards, Creed's attorney, and was made aware for the first time of her family. Now 17 years old, Ashleigh went to LA to be with her sister and brother. Aware of her family's role as Watchers, she hoped to learn from Jordan and fight by her side.

Ashleigh - who prefers to be called Leigh - is taller then her sister Jordan. She is 5 foot 5 inches tall, and has Aviva's ash blonde hair, but inherited her startling blue eyes and ivory skin from Creed. She has a great grasp of science, and hopes to one day pursue a career in chemical or electrical engineering. Leigh also loves music, and plays piano, french horn, trumpet, and saxophone in her school band. Her happiest hours, however, are spent in front of her beloved computer - a true "hacker" at heart, Leigh holds the motto "information is meant to be free" as her highest pledge.

Leigh's greatest fear is loosing her family, and has vivid dreams regarding the Deveraux clan - often seeing images of past Deveraux Watchers battling their foes, and ultimately their related deaths. She knew of Jordan's Embrace and Francesca's betrayal at the moment of its occurance - a memory that still wakes her screaming from the soundest sleep. Of all Creed's children, Leigh possesses the strongest propensity towards psychic ability - powers that will ultimately both aid her in her fight against the Clans, and make her a target for them as well. The powers of the rumored Deveraux Triumvirate are most evident in Leigh. Unlike her sisters, Leigh was born with natural gifts, and there are many within the Kindred society who would like nothing more then to add the pretty young Watcher to their ranks. None of this, however has effected Leigh's quick sense of humor or cutting sarcasm.

The recent transitions within the Deveraux family have forced Leigh to grow up much faster then the average 17 year old. She has a natural hatred of the Di Nerezza Clan, and shares Jordan's suspicions that either Canio or Tanais were reponsible for Creed's death. Having Francesca chose to join the family that she hates so much has been especially difficult on the youngest Deveraux. Of all the Clans in LA, her deepest resentments and fears center around Canio and his family.

Most devastating of all to Leigh was Jordan's sudden decision to join the Priscus. After a disastrous fight with Lisette and Nick Di Nerezza, Leigh awoke to find her sister packing her things and sending her to the Wyland Estate in Kentucky. This rather drastic turn of events was followed closely by news of Jordan's death - and new life as Marie's childe. The last of Creed's known children, and the only surviving Deveraux, Leigh is content to remain in Kentucky - for now. But she has no intentions of remaining there indefinitely. In her eyes, she now has four scores to settle: One with Canio, for the death of her father's family. One with Thera, for the murder of Creed. One with Aerin Delano, for turning her brother Cole. And one with her own sister, Francesca, for causing their family to come to such an end.

Leigh tries to bury her hatred and fears deep within, but has a burning anger towards all vampires. Despite her family's teachings, Leigh often lets her emotions get the better of her in difficult situations - a tendency that has gotten her in trouble more times then not. There are very few vampires Leigh trusts; her oldest sister and brother, and Marie Priscus.
