Colum O'Shea

Colum O'Shea was born in the year 1054 in Scotland. When he was 33, his village was attacked by vampires and he lost his wife and their three children. Colum himself was attacked, but in the throes of his death struggle managed to stake his attacker. When he awoke, he was an Immortal.  He devoted his life to the slaughter of vampires, and in recent years has grown disgusted with the endless death and blood with which he seemed to surround himself.  He now seeks to destroy only those who he views as a threat to society; namely the Therion clan, and Canio Di Nerezza. It was Canio who had killed his family, he later discovered upon meeting up with him again.  And Colum has sworn to end the Clan head's life, no matter what the cost.

A man for whom the world is not black and white, Column is never a sure bet in a fight...one cannot automatically pick which side he will be fighting on.  Led by his emotions, he has been known to make questionable decisions when dealing with the Clans, most especially when it comes to matters of the heart.  He has had more then one amorous encounter with a Kindred lady.  His longing to find a true partner in life, such as his wife, has led him to many a vampiress' bed.  He thought he had found such a partner in Jordan Deveraux, but lost her to Adam Priscus.

No one mistakes the Scot for a brooding whiner.  His anger is as legendary as his romantic streak, and his kills have caused contracts to be put on his head by both Canio Di Nerezza and Alexander Therion.  A trained fighter, Colum is skilled in martial arts, as well as hand to hand combat, and is an excellent marksman.  The Kindred give him grudging respect because of both his prowess and his longevity.

In New York, Colum has no intentions of joining the Forty, viewing them with the same regard as he did the Watcher Council in LA.  He is very close to Leigh Deveraux, and would gladly lay down his life to protect hers.

Colum is just under six feet tall, with hazel eyes that reflect his moods.  Lanky in stature, he is nonetheless capable of very powerful fighting.  In New York, Colum has a woodshop in the Village, and spends many hours working on restoring furniture as well as restoring run-down homes.  He is also noted throughout the Slayer world for the ingenious devices he makes specifically suited for the destruction of vampires.

Beneath the woodshop, Colum has opened a small cafe called Stylus.  Here one is guaranteed to find excellent food, good jazz, great drinks - and on occasion - a meeting between Clan heads and the Forty. The Village is more accepting of such occurances then anywhere else in the city, and consider the existence of vampires and Immortals one of the quirks of New York.
