My ride

I now own a 1998 Kawasaki Concours. To see Kawasaki's photo of this bike, click here.  I also have some pictures of my bike on line, located here.  I've made modifications to the bike to make it my own.  I now have a full Bagster tank cover, which in addition to protecting the tank, also allows me to clip on a map pocket, or a tank bag.  I also added a super comfortable Russell Day-Long Saddle.  When some idiot knocked over my bike in a parking lot, the cost to replace one busted saddlebag was ridiculus, so I now have Givi saddlebags (and top case) on the bike.

I used to own a 1984 Honda Nighthawk-S CB700SC. You can find photos of it, and similar bikes here. (this way I won't force people to download pictures they may not be interested in). I made some modifications to my Nighthawk. I added a Corbin Saddle a KG luggage rack with moveable backrest. They are both viewable in the pictures.

While I miss the Nighthawk, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a first bike, I felt it was time to move on.  I have several long distance trips in mind, and I wanted to have the confidence of a new motorcycle beneath my butt.

I am now active in the Eastern Deaf Bikers, a deaf motorcycle group in the Mid-Atlantic area.  I currently edit the newsletter, and as a "Safety Officer" offer advice to members about riding.  Here is their website.

Some of my favorite motorcycle web sites (always in progress)

  1. Motorcycle Memories, great page for old magazines, posters, brochures, etc
  2. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)
  3. My Motorcycle, for finding accessories for your bike
  4. American Motorcyclist Association
  5. Motorcycle Web Index
  6. Moto-Directory, another list of links
  7. MSF in Orgegon, good info for any MSF course
  8. Good tips for Motorcyclists Note: Read with a grain of salt. Some of this advice is good, other is questionable.
  9. The Iron Butt Page for the long distance riders
  10. The Concours Owners Group. Great information for Concours Owners
  11. Randy's Nighthawk Page. Info on various years of the Honda Nighthawk

The Capitol 1000

The Capitol 1000 is long past.  Larry Fears passed away a few years ago, he will be sorely missed.  However, I had a great time doing his rally, and want to leave the write up here.
The Capitol 1000 is now over. I placed 7th place. I'm more than satisfied with that! To read about my adventures, look here.

Back in 1997, I was a motorcycle escort in the '97 AIDSRide, a 350 mile long bicycle journey. I wrote up some of my experiences here.
