SONGWRITING
Nick Andrews is out to prove that there is still room for the
creation of exceptional, ear catching and unforgettable songs.
Since learning to write intuitively since a very early age, he has honed his songwriting skills
to an enviable status that is waiting to be tapped into on a commercial basis.
Using observational lyrics and powerfully infectious hooks which stick in the mind; the
songs are a conscious effort to employ sophisticated harmony / melodic lead work, and
yet be commercially appealing.

Nick on his Songwriting.........."The Album
"TAMASHA" is mainly evocative of where things have
been at the turn of the century, these
times, and is an observation of what people are subscribing
to. Some kind of benchmark....people tend to appreciate music
/ expression relating what goes on around them.
'Chit Chat' for instance, was written on a very bumpy tube train in the rush hour
whilst capturing mobile phone phrases that have become the new clichés - I realised that
a whole new language had evolved
'Tagliatelle Song' and 'Believe In Your Dreams' incorporate
nonsense lyrics ..was a huge grin ...collating & writing the lyrics.
'Tonight Thang'- is a saucy cynical funk based gobsmacker that will
challenge anyone, to slot into it a genre.
'I'll Live for Today- focus's on September 2001 and how
perhaps, the perspective on day
to day life has shifted for many.
'Rain A Falling " was inspired and
written after
sitting under a leaking roof in an East London tobacco warehouse ....and along with 'Ain't Right' ,
are songs encouraging people to get out and accomplish in life what
they want to achieve.
'You Have' -a haunting cadence of chord progression , & hard hitting
twist of lyrics / melody based on the vocal legacy of Eva Cassidy........
'We Aren't Leaving (Ben & Sera) 'inspired by Leaving Las
Vegas
''Bawdsey Ferry' and 'Gentle Giant' stem from Suffolk and
the surround, whilst 'Over and Over' is a new dimension of love
song.
I like to integrate as many of my influences ( biog page ) as possible , but infuse new ideas and break a few
rules in order to catch peoples ear. Agreed, the influences are pretty diverse but that
makes a whole new effort to produce new material that hasn't been pigeonholed.
Generally, my aims when writing are to include great prosody in
the lyrics along with metaphors.... I love lyrics with that twist in them - that are
observational, normally collated from the notebook and all that goes on
around.... I
always try to get the best form and arrangement - usually after much agonizing ( for
everyone else around as well ).
Performances, and excellent reviews, have
re-enforced my belief of myself as a writer of both Music and Lyrics.....and also in my
songs as a commodity ".
And now, the Quotes: Guild
of International Songwriter and Composers
" Excellent singer songwriter songs and
performances " " Many fine ideas and
arrangements " - WIR Music
"A very observational and catchy lyricist " Effenel
Productions
"If
you were my husband, I'd poison your coffee"- Lady Astor
