Troop Library:

The Troop Library is a valuable reference for boys earning merit badges or who are just curious about various subjects.  It includes everything from merit badge phamplets, to issues of Scouting Magazine, and various videos.

The Scout Librarian will maintain the Troop Library under the supervision of the Scoutmaster, Advancement Chairman, or Committee Member  Scouts may check out books from the Librarian at Scout Meetings. They may use the book for a period not to exceed one month. The Librarian will maintain records on Loaned books.

Lost Books
Lost books will be replaced by the responsible Scout.
Records:
Each scout is responsible for making sure that he knows where he stands as far as advancement.  The boy scout handbook contains a place where he can document the dates that he has earned various badges.  Make sure that he keeps up with his rank and merit badge cards that are given to him at each court of honor.  They are for his records and to certify that he has earned the badges.
The Scoutmaster will keep records of all advancements in the PAR Notebook.  The Advancement chairman will keep the records of advancement through the advancement reports, the treasurer will keep copies of the unit money earning application.
Discipline:
Discipline within the Troop is the primary responsibility of the Scoutmaster and the Troop Leadership Corps. Other adult members will assist as required and when necessary

A new discipline system has been adopted by the troop committee it is called The Black Dot System.
Scouts misbehaving during any meeting or activity, and after being given sufficient warnings, will be given a black dot on the record board.  After a number of dots have been reached that scout will not be allowed to participate in the next troop activity.

The Troop 316 Website
Troop 316 currently has an operating website at www.geocities.com/newrocky_troop316/. The website contains information and program materials pertaining to the troop and to scouting.

Attendance

Meetings are where the scouts learn the skills necessary for them to be successful in scouting.  All scouts will be encouraged to attend all meetings and Troop activities. If a Scout fails to attend 75% of meetings without a valid excuse that scout will be appropriately reprimanded.  All parents are welcome and encouraged to stay for each meeting and see what their child is learning from scouting.   Also, valuable information is given out at the end of each meeting so it is important that you stay around and hear what is coming up.
