Washing*:
Most wool products should be hand washed and either hung or  layed flat to dry--ours are no different.
Wool covers can be spot cleaned if only slightly soiled, or given a full wash after about 2 weeks with normal wear. The key to a good wash are: GENTLE agitation and WARM water (not hot and not cold).

1. Fill your sink with warm water and add a bit of gentle soap, Eucalan, or other WAHM Wool Wash soap. NEVER use Woolite on your covers as it will strip out every bit of lanolin in your cover! A drop or two of shampoo or baby wash works great but will require rinsing out.Eucalan wool wash does not need to be rinsed.

2.  Place your cover in the water and gently squeeze it to make sure it is completely saturated. Pay extra attention to any areas that may have fecal matter on them, but don't worry your wool too much or it will felt on you.

3.  Allow the cover to sit for a few minutes in the water, squeeze it a few more times. Rinse with fresh water, if necessary. Gently squeeze (do not twist as this can stretch out your cover) out any excess water.  You're done!

Drying:
1. After you have squeezed (remember: no twisting)  as much water as you can out of your cover you can either put your wool cover through a spin cycle (not rinse)  in the clothes washer or roll in a dry, clean towel, squeezing or even stepping on the roll to remove more water. Both methods will get your covers almost dry!!

2. Drape your covers over a chair, lay flat to dry, hang with clothes pins on a hanger, or hang on your clothes line to finish drying. You can put your covers in front of a fan for quicker dry time.

Lanolizing*:
If your covers are starting to leak, wick with the slightest pee, or are stinky even after washing,  its time to put some lanolin on those covers!!!  It's 3 easy steps!

1.Run your sink water until it gets pretty darn hot, then plug it up.

2.Into the stream of water, add a bit of gentle soap (as if you were washing) and about a teaspoon of lanolin (using a spoon, whisk, or the handle of your toothbrush, make sure to pull clumps of lanolin to the water to help it spread in the water...this will form a "greasy" film on the surface). Fill about 1/3 full of hot water..top off with cooler water to bring the overall temperature to "warm"...continue to agitate water if necessary.

3. Add your covers to the bath, and let soak for at least 15 minutes.  If you used a soap other than eucalan, or any non rinsable soaps, you will need to rinse your cover in tepid water.

Dry as you do after washing.

*All of your new covers will arrive freshly washed/lanolized and ready for use!
