Understanding Insomnia's music is not just a simple process of listening and inerpreting. One fact needs to be clarified. The members of the band are Macedonian, a land of 500 years Turkish influence, great heretige especially from the Byzantium period and from Ancient times, (for those who don't agree I don't have to prove anything to you, you are blind to the facts), and in recent times the global movement is having a profound influence on the band's music and perfomance. All of the above mentioned phenomena combined with the personal experiences of Insomnia's members have combined in a unique and unrepeatable musical achievement that can only be explained as Insomnia. No other words need to be said.
Of course the rock and heavy metal movemens need not be forgotten. Insomnia is above all a rock band and despises so the so called Nesquick mentality, i.e. four guys who have money and contacts but they can't sing, or have any knowledge of music (a typical example is Novi Dechki, hi guys keep up the bad work). Insomnia writes, records and performs its own music. There are no exceptions to this rule. Of course this doen't mean that they are not open minded to cooperation with writers and other bands. In fact the band's gigs are based on interaction from the auideince and any musicians that happen to be there.
Musically speaking, all of the members have greatly been influenced by a number of great bands, performers and musical movements. Such bands such as Metallica, Van Halen, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Dream Theater, to mentioned but a few, but also Macedonian greats, such as Leb i Sol (and of course the unforgettable Vlatko Stefanovski, Anastasia and Arhangel, are just a few of the names that the members are still big fans of and have been influenced by.
