Welcome to the histoy section of Insomnia. Here you will read exciting stories about pirates, lost islands and secret treasures ... hmmm not really. Actually, it's a story of romance, intrigue and lust. Well,... hardly. Then its a story about crime, murder, mystery, suspense and inexplicable supernatural phenomena. Ok than, you'll probably want to hear that the members are all the most prodigious talents. Or maybe the guitarist was a student of Joe Satriani but soon gave up the lessons because he found out that there was not much to learn from him, or maybe the drummer taught Dave Weckl some of his finest tricks. Not likely.

Here you will read about four guys named Ilija, Igor, Dejan and Aleksandar (they are all very common names in other parts of the world so stop laughing), who were in bands like Moron, Andormeda and the Undertakers, all hailing from Sveti Nikole. Accordingly, historians have devided the pre-Insomnia era into three periods:
The Moron Years, the Andromeda Experience and the Undertakers Undertaking.
This is their story
The Moron Years
It all began way back in the ancient time of 1990. It was at that wonderful and mystical time that the two brothers Wolf (who we shall affectionately dub the Vuks) Koki and Igor were so overwhelmed with wondeful groups like the New Kids on the Block and Milli Vanilli but were disappointed of their short lifespan. Soon they discovered other groups like Bon Jovi, Europe and Metallica, and they decided to grow their hairs so that they would look good listening to heavier music. The smaller of the Vuks had acquired a guitar somehow and soon proved his affinity towards music. In high school, the smaller of the brothers Wolf had a school friend called Aleksandar Efremov - Korub, who was also ambitious in growing his hair :)))). Somehow they started a conversation which lead to creating the band with a very creative name, Moron. Igor of the brothers Wolf had thought up the name, unfortunately the name stuck. Therefore, Moron had consisted of two guitarists, the brothers Wolf, and a bassist/vocalits, the Korub, but finding a drummer proved to be a very difficult task. Their first drummer had no drums and was a little kid, Filip, who could bang the drum pretty agressively but had short hair. It took a couple of practice sessions to find out that Moron had a future. A couple of weeks later Moron got the first break. They were to play a gig of four songs in the disco in Sveti NIkole. In the absence of drum kit, they somehow assembled two tom-toms, a home made drum kit and a cymbal or two. Well, it doesn't take a genious to surmise that the gig was an absolute catastrophe. Songs like One, Enter Sandman, For whom the Bell Tolls and Iron Fist resemled themselves if they could be heard because of the even more catastrophic PA system that the disco management provided.
Regardless of the unsuccessful debut, Moron were even more resolute in their quest for stardom and musical proficiency. Hours and hours of arduous practice sessions followed but soon a problem had arisen. Filip the drummer was actually not interested in playing heavy music and was not as enthusiastic in Moron because he had formed a happy-go-lucky band called the Ski Rolls, and of course there was the additional problem in the fact that he was unwilling to grow his hair. Such snobbery!!! The search had began for someone who would fit in Moron, who  could play the guitar or drums and most importantly have long(ish) hair. That person was Ilija Tasev, who thought that he was an excellent guitarist and drummer, and singer. His long hair also fitted under the Moron criteria. He volunteered to be a drummer, but his ego dictated that he play and sing a few songs as well. The band was now complete, fervourous practice sessions followed.
The reason for the heightened activity of Moron was the upcoming Rock Fest in Sveti NIkole. It was now 1993 and it was cold, that was all that historians have kept in record. The important thing is that Moron was workling relentlessly for they were to be the winner of the Fest. People still remember that night because it was one of the most enthusistic events to happen until that point of time in Sveti Nikole. The first band to open the night was Narkomani, with the passive Dejan Dimitrov on bass. They were followed by a single-man punk rock group with a cult following lead by the charismatic Dejan Georgievski, who had three excellent own written songs but had to borrow band members to accompany him. He was followed by the Undertakers, who in an argument prior to the event were left without their star guitarist Dejan Dimitrov reluctentlty quitting because his image would be blemished with a band that only just started to play their instruments. Nevertheless, their show was one of the most energetic surprising even the biggest optimists, of course the sound had a lot to be desired. Exact records were not kept but legend has it that Ski Rolls were next. The happy-go-lucky band was not so hunky dorry because hours and hours of practice payed off in their eveolved sound, plus they acquired a new singer which actually lead them to greater heights.
