The Terai belt is an extension  of Indo-Gangetic plains and extends northwards form Nepal’s border with India. It gradually rises from a height of 200 feet above sea level to about 1000 feet along the foothills. The soil is fertile with rich alluvium, highly conductive to agricultural farming.

The Terai is rich in forest resources also. Here dense forests are situated so that wildlife could be conserved. By the help of these elements, the government has good earning from this region. The most of the fertile land lies in this region so that this region is known as food developer. This region even helps to collect taxes because this region is linked with India and it is the only way to import goods from the road transportations. This helps government to collect taxes and duty.

Several rivers flow through this region. Here fertile valleys like Kathmandu and Pokhara is situated. Here most of the popular cities and valleys are found so that population is dense. Here the moderate temperature is found so that people love to live here. However the fertile land is not available more. The main occupation of people living in this region is non-agricultural activities. But this region consumes much food. Tourism is also the occupation in this region. Tourists come from other countries to visit the country. The main transportation is road and air transportation.

(3) Alpine Region

Alpine region covers an area of 22,081 square kilometers, about 15 percent of the total land of the country. It has the height up to 29000 feet above the sea level. It has  very cold climate. People living in this region wear thick woolen clothes. The population in this region is very low. Very few people live in this region. The main people living in this region are Mongolian.
