Features of Nepalese economy

Development and prosperity depends on natural resources. Human resource thrives on natural resources. Nepal has various natural resources but due to the effective government policies and lack of efficient manpower, those natural resources are not utilized. Here are the resources available in Nepal and their conditions:

(1) Water resources

Water resource is very important for Nepal. It is claimed that Nepal can be transformed into Singapore on the basis of water resources. Water resources is useful for drinking water, irrigation, hydro-electricity etc. Nepal can be produce 44 megawatts through hydro-power but due to inefficient manpower and lack of financial support, these types of projects do not get started. So the water resources are under-utilized in Nepal.

(2) Forest resources

Forest is also good resources found in Nepal. It produces the fuel for the rural places where wood is the main source for fuel. Electricity and kerosene is not available in all the part of the country so forest is the main source of fuel. Even Nepal is famous for different medicinal herbs which are also forest product. It gives government a good revenue. But it is not getting well preservation. People cut down trees as their requirements these are the main factor that is diminishing the forest resources.

(3) Minerals resources

Nepal has several minerals deposits. Some deposits are amenable to commercial exploitation and industrial utilization. Nepal has iron ore, copper ore, limestone, nickel, lead and Zinc, coal etc. situated in various parts of the nations. These ores have great potentiality. These resources are even not utilized 50 percent. These resources are waiting for help so that government make policy and utilize the resources. If this mines could be opened then the problem of unemployment could be reduced a little bit and the national income could increase.
