The Sandman Endless Nights by Neil Gaiman • Fifteen Portraits of Despair • DC/Vertigo 2003 • Details

People are probably most familiar with Barron's work for Neil Gaiman's Sandman Endless Nights graphic novel. Above are a few details from the Despair chapter illustrated by Barron. If you haven't seen this book definitely check it out, they are easy to find.

Barron's work in comics shows that he's always ten steps ahead of every body else. Most of the work is black and white but again it is more complex and thought provoking than most of the full color work out there. The comics listed below may be hard to find but they turn up from time to time at comic shops and on eBay.

If you can find the 1996 WATCH Annual it has a section in the back which has the basic outline of Barron's exercises that he teaches in his illustration classes. Great stuff!!!

For All It's Worth

This was a graphic novel with writer Ashley-Jayne Nicolaus that sounds like it has been put on indefinite hold.

Barron said that he had finished all of the images for the book but due to creative differences it looked like it wouldn't be published.

Bummer!!!
