Saving Money with the Internet

The internet is a great resource that can save you money!  Not just used for comparison shopping, but also used to obtain online discounts.

Online discounts?  Something I just learned about.  Living in a small town and not having instant access to a Home Depot or other large home improvement store we turned to the internet.  We were looking for shutters for our windows and were able to do comparison shopping and find exactly what we were looking for.  The Home Depot had free shipping and handling, so what did we have to lose for ordering over the internet?  It saved us gas money from not having to drive an hour and a half one way to a larger city.  Not to mention our time.  It turns out that what we wanted would not have been available at the store anyways!

I added the window shutters to our online shopping cart and got to the check out page where there was a blank spot for a promo code.   Promo code?  I didnt have one but knew I needed one.

Upon Googling the words, Home Depot promo code, a ton of websites came up that advertise themselves as coupon websites.  I found out that almost every store has a discount of some kind, you just need the right promotional code to enter at the checkout process.  Whether it be for free shipping, dollars off, a free item with purchase, or for a straight discount of 10% to upwards of 40% off.

Google is the search engine that I prefer, and Googling is quickly becoming a common term in our society for looking up something on a search engine, specifically Google.

I found a promo code for 10% off and went back and completed my checkout, free shipping and 10% off my purchase, and I was a happy camper.

Looking for the Home Depot promo code I took notice of the hundreds of stores that had promo codes listed.  I learned that you can order clothes really inexpensively online from your favorite stores like J.C. Pennys, Lerner MetroStyle, Chadwicks, Newport News, etc.  Buying clearance or sale priced merchandise and using a promo code can produce a real steal for new, stylish clothes.  Some of these companies even have an online outlet center, where I have seen dresses for as little as $4.00.

E-Bay is also a really good source to save money.  E-Bay has everything imaginable and you can take advantage of what someone else no longer wants, picking up some really good deals.  Have a favorite author?  Buy books in lots by looking up your favorite authors name in the book section and then clicking on mixed lot or bulk lot.  Nora Roberts is a good author to do this with.  Or if you are looking for specific titles, thrift books.com is an excellent website to purchase used books from.

I was actually looking to learn a new language over the summer and had been pricing foreign language kits at Amazon and Barnes and Noble when I discovered free online language courses complete with sound downloads!

Things change at the speed of light on the internet.  Be sure your up to date and take advantage of all the internet has to offer.  Just when I think I know, something always jumps up and surprises me, and often times saves me money!

When in doubt, Google It!
