Challengers were to use beads anywhere on their bag, a bead being defined as any item with a hole in it. Challengers could also us any other artistic media of choice. The theme and design of the bag was developed by Mona Jenkins, past NBS President.
The judge, Margaret Berry, a whimsical fiber artist from Lincoln Arts Council presented 3 of the 4 awards. The fourth is the People's Choice Award below.
1st place - $75 to Mary Reifschneider
2nd place - $50 to Laura Focht
3rd place - $30 to Kathryn Gabig
All three winners are current NBS members. Congratulations!
The People's Choice Award
The votes were cast both online and at participating stores in Lincoln and Omaha as the bags went on tour: 5Z's Star City Bead Shop,
Aquarius Beads & Gifts, Beads Amour, Earth Bead Gallery & Beading Supply, the
Omaha Bead Bazaar and Beads by Elisa Ilana.
Laura Focht's bag won and she received $50 plus the beading book, 500 Beaded Objects, New Dimensions in Contemporary Beadwork.
