Seeing Shades of Gray: (The Pale Rider)

1. Blurred images swirl before your minds eye, you hear a scream of agony. The visions vanish. You see only a figure cloaked and cowled all in white, riding a pitch-black steed. The pale rider gallops toward you at full tilt, drawing a sword. You stand among a crowd of people, all screaming and you scream too as the sword swings back, then falls to sweep through the people, who twitch and flail as they fall in bloody ruin.

2. Your standing in a crowd of writhing bodies packed into a very large room.  The crowd parts before you and you see a brightly dressed figure move lurching through the room.  It seems to be dressed for a masquerade ball, in a lacey blouse and a large feathered hat.  The figure pauses before each person, presenting them with a small cup and an over-emphasized bow.  The onlookers begin drinking greedily and smiling wickedly as soon as they receive their gift.  As the figure loosely glides toward you, you follow the jerking motions of his limbs and notice the thick, black cords that suspend it from above.  As the masked Marionette-man hands you a small plastic cup, he backs away with an exaggerated bow and continues presenting his gift to rest of the crowd.  Looking into the small cup, youre hit with the sugary smell of cherry Kool-aid.  Before you can take a sip you notice the first person fall to the ground in a violent convulsion.

3. Theres blood everywhere.  A small girl, with a little woven basket, wades through the gore.  She stops every few steps and bends down, picking something up off of the ground.  Shes crying, and mumbling something to herself.  As you step closer you can hear her soft voice, three hundred sixteen, three hundred seventeen, three hundred eighteen...
