2.22.07 A Raze for a Raise Gathered intelligence linked T&S with kidnapped homeless people and a secret research lab here in the city. The crucible was charged with infiltrating the lab, releasing any unwilling test subjects, gathering all research information, and destroying the facility. With excellent inside information provided by Dr. Spite, each and every objective was executed perfectly. Although extensive Horror usage did attract a few Shadow-class entities, they were avoided without incident. Possible repercussions from T&S at this point are unknown, as well as any consequences between T&S and law enforcement.
Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: The crucible recovered information from Terrel&Squib that simply too extensive to mention here. Agent Shepherds ability to ward a location seemed perfectly capable of keeping Spectres out of a location, as well as normal spooks. Agent Pibbles skills with Inhabit have proven invaluable to yet another operation. Agent Spites on-site intel was probably the single most important factor to the missions smooth execution. Its also worth noting that the entire crucible managed to empty an entire Terrel&Squib facility with no bloodshed and the destruction of only one hostile PLE, perhaps they are capable of showing restraint after all. John Carruthers 2.13.07 Chasing Matthew Despite missing two members, the crucible executed a very complicated and involved mission with precision. The crucible was asked to track down Mathew Lehto (an Orpheus spook that had been missing for six months), follow him for 24 hours, check into any accomplices or contacts, fumigate any Mirage- or Shadow-class Red contacts, and bring Lehto back to Orpheus. A tip linked Lehto with the Six-Deuce Gangsters and the crucible caught up with him by following that lead. Lehto was attempting to sell Orpheus secrets to interested parties (the Six-Deuce, Spectres, etc) in effort to raise enough money to buy his early retirement. The crucible prevented him from exchanging any real information before it could be sold, but Lehtos Spectre allies caught up with him before the crucible could. There was nothing the crucible could have done to prevent it. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives NO Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: This mission proved very enlightening on several points. The crucible learned the Six-Deuce could be one the largest pigment manufacturers/distributors in the city, Spectres seem very interested in learning more about Orpheus, the owner of A New Pawn sees spooks and sells artifacts, and a new breed of Spectre can apparently transform into pure electricity. John Carruthers 1.30.07 City of Lost Children Several of the children at the Saint Marys Home for Orphaned Children fell to deep depression and resorted to suicide. An early team reported the effects of a hostile PLE and the crucible was sent to deal with both problems. The mission was an excellent pro-bono opportunity for the Orpheus Group to gain positive face with the public. Each of the deceased orphans was found haunting the premises as a Lost Boy and an unknown Spectre possessing one of the nuns is thought to be responsible for their creation. Despite several snags and a dangerous encounter with a shadow-class entity, the crucible still managed to accomplish mission objectives and show some decent initiative in the field. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians NO Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: Agent Shepherd once again used a powerful Wail within range of a crucible member, harming Agent Russo. Increasing his own Wail was unnecessary and reckless; this should be considered strike two for Norman. Russo had the situation under control, his Witchs Nimbus proved more than adequate to handle the Lost Boy in question. There is ALWAYS another way. Speaking of which, attacking innocent hosts is NOT the way we fumigate possessing spooks. Agent Spite should have known that Puppetry is the first choice to remove hostile entities from an unwilling host. Injuring innocents is not how we operate! John Carruthers 1.23.07 Spy Games Kelly Michaels was a Terrel & Squib employee that had secretly been working as a mole for Orpheus. One of her usual transmissions of data was interrupted and it was suspected that her cover had been blown. The crucible was sent to meet Ms. Michaels at the usual location and bring her back to the Orpheus Group permanently. Conflict ensued when a team of Terrel & Squibs ghostbreakers showed up to claim Ms. Michaels for their own. The resulting shoot-out not only left Ms. Michaels in our hands, but left three ghostbreakers dead, two more hospitalized, and all T&S survivors suspecting only NextWorld. All of this was achieved with little damage to our own personnel. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: Agent Pibble learned a valuable lesson about charging a scared T&S ghostbreaker armed with a clip full of ghostshot. Although the bloodbath may not have been entirely necessary, I can think of few other ways the scenario could have possibly played out. If theyd had their way, T&S would have killed or injured every one of us and taken Kelly (and possibly some of our own) back to their headquarters. The crucible simply took initiative and acted first. I honestly cant blame them. The fact that none of it was traced back to us was just icing on the cake! John Carruthers 1.16.07 Ghost-Quake Agent Zoey Vitt suffered severe wounds while attempting to bring in a meteorite artifact. The crucible was dispatched to retrieve the mysterious artifact and investigate the impact site. With relative ease, they found the fetches that picked up the artifact and followed the spectres back to their lair. The crucible retrieved the artifact and brought it back to R&D. They also determined that those living close to the area all shared similar nightmares following the ghost-quake. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians NO Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: Good job taking initiative with the blip you found at Memorial Hospital. Its not in your job description, but its never a bad idea to take a little time out to help a stray spook. Now for the bad news, there are ways to scare 18-year-olds that dont involve permanent derangements. Most of all, there are ways to handle spectres that dont involve shredding your teammates (no matter how suicidal they may seem). A highly skilled, highly trained Orpheus spook is worth much more than any five spectres. Never knowingly cause harm to your crucible mates unless there is absolutely no other way. And theres always another way! John Carruthers 1.15.07 Jaynes Chains The crucible was hired by shock rocker Jayne Jonestown to investigate PLE activity at the nightclub known as Chains. Orpheus also instructed them to use this opportunity to procure as many varieties of pigment as possible. After an in-depth investigation, the PLE activity turned out to be two separate ghosts. One was a hue created from the rape and murder (via pigment overdose) of a young girl named Carla Marinucci. The other was the spirit of Vincent Cannato, her best friend that was killed for asking too many questions about the missing Carla. The crucible discovered that both murders were performed and subsequently covered up by Jonestown himself and his friend Mark Chandler, the head bartender at Chains. Unfortunately, self-defense led to the destruction of the rage filled Hue, but the crucible did manage to peacefully release the spirit. Additionally, a significant sample of each form of pigment was acquired without drawing unwanted attention and Jonestown and Chandler were turned over to the proper authorities. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: The crucible deserves great praise for bringing the three most common types of Black Heroin to the boys in R&D. They also handled themselves very well with yet another Fetch encounter as well as making a few key field observations about the varying effects of pigment. John Carruthers 1.15.07 The Price of Pretty After dying as a result of botched plastic surgery, Ms. Prezioso persisted as a spiteful P.L.E. and began scarring local women out of jealousy. Ms. Prezioso was confronted, calmed by the crucible, and held at bay until specialists arrived. The crucible then proceeded to fumigate a nearby Fetch and prevent it from doing any future harm. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: The crucible showed remarkable ingenuity when dealing with the Spectre. Thats exactly how Horrors and Benefits should be used! 1.2.07 Training Evaluation - After a lengthy review of all the major training concepts, the crucible was asked to look into the ghost known as the Rose Girl and, if possible, release her from her suffering. Performance Evaluation: Crucible completed all mission objectives YES Crucible caused no harm to crucible members or civilians YES Crucible showed competency and initiative in the field YES Crucible followed orders, no matter how complicated YES Notes: The recruits displayed a good knowledge of projecting concepts, though some were admittedly quicker than others. Fortunately for them, field work isnt about knowing, its about doing. And the crucible did an excellent job! They displayed great teamwork and coordination in accomplishing tasks. Their Horrors were utilized to great effect, displaying unusual flexibility with low vitality uses. I believe the most potent Horror effect manifested was only at the second vitality level, yet the crucible still accomplished everything that was asked of them. It is also worth mentioning that the recruits handled the Spectre test very well, staying out of its way and reporting it to Orpheus was exactly right! Zoey Vitt 12.19.06 The crucible has just been hired on to Orpheus staff and is undergoing intensive training to hone their projecting skills. Soon, they will be put to the test and they'll have to show the Training Staff everything they've learned. |
