The literacy in the project villages is dismal. So far only a single Kharwar boy could pass 10^th standard and single girl has crossed 5^th standard. These communities themselves insisted for this support since schools are rare, and in some remote areas where  they do exist, teachers are conspicuous by their absence.

 National Open School of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi, has accorded accreditation to Basic Education. These schools are being run by local school dropouts with the help of NCDC.
