The Community Access Program works in partnership with community groups to connect Canadians in rual and remote settings to the information Highway and the social and economic benefits it can present.

"We are very pleased to participate in this partnership," said Carolyn King the chairperson of the New Credit library Board of Trustees.  "This CAP centre will give ther people of our community the tools and skills required to participate in the knowledge-based economy."

People are encouraged to drop by the CAP centre to find out how they can benefit from the economic and social opportunities available through the Information Highway.  Some special offerings include: free email services through 3rd party email hosts, free Internet access and computer use.  Printing is still only 10 cents per sheet for black and white and in the near future there will be a colour printer available.  The New Credit Library CAP Centre also has a scanner for digitizing either pictures or text and friendly staff to help you if you need it.

The goal of the Community Access Program is to link up to 10, 000 communities to the Information Highway by March 31, 2001, making Canada the most connected nation in the world.  CAP is also an integral part of the federal Youth Employment Stragety, as CAP centres help provide job opportunities for young Canadains aged 15 to 30
