Welcome to nBdebating: the online home of the SAC debating society
As will become evident, this site has not been updated for a considerable amount of time. There are manifold reasons for this, but primarily the more low-key operation of the group in the past year (unfortunately necessitated by falling attendance) has made any regular Internet presence redundant. As a result, most of the facts and references on the site harken to the "old" New Blood; that is, the group as it was several years ago. What this site provides, then, is not up-to-date news but an insight into what was, and hopefully - despite the inevitable departure of all 'senior' members - will be, a flourishing school debating society. NB is the St. Aloysius' College Debating Society. It was established in the 2000-1 term, based on an idea by David Cochrane (the current leader). The intention was to replace the rare but raucous Parliamentary Debates with something more appealing to the average pupil (of course, that is not to suggest any of our members are average). As a result, debating is no longer confined to senior pupils, and a fresh class of speakers has emerged: the New Blood.
