External Competitions

External Debates

'External' is a term used to describe inter-school debating competitions, usually organised by some third party such as the English Speaking Union (ESU). These have nothing to do with NB itself, although only NB members compete and spectate. Experienced and impartial judges are required but not always provided; after all, there is often no clear winner in a debate and judging can thus be highly subjective. Details of upcoming external debates can be found on the News Page.
