When Leo first arrived, neither Piper nor her sisters had any idea he was anything but an ordinary handyman. However, Leo knew that the three sisters were the Charmed Ones because they were the witches he was sent to protect. This is because Leo is a Whitelighter, a sort of guardian angel for witches. Soon, Piper and Phoebe were fighting for his affections without him even noticing. Love finally won out and Leo and Piper started dating. However, when their love was forbidden (a witch and a whitelighter cannot fall in love) and when Piper found out Leo's true identity, they decided that it would be easier if he just left. By season 2, the handsome Dan Gordon moved in next door to the Charmed Ones, Piper who had been heartbroken with Leo, started dating Dan. Leo returned. He was devastated and was not ready to give her up. He even got his wings clipped (became a mortal) for her. After that, Piper finally realised that she could not deny that Leo was the love of her life. Through all the trials and tribulations they went through, they struggled to the end to be together. |

Through it all Leo's been there for Piper and has been the rock she's needed in times of pain. Most recently when she suffered the loss of Prue. Leo was right beside her the whole time and gave her great support. When Piper was at an uncertain stage when she wondered why Prue died and not her, one thing that was always certain, which she could always rely upon was that Leo would always be there for her. They are the perfect definition for 'soulmates' and make eachother complete. |

Leo soon proposed to Piper but she got scared and turned him down at first. Then she realised that, being a witch, she could die at any moment without even being his wife. She accepted the marriage proposal and soon they were planning their wedding. However, even this did not go smoothly as the Elders refused to marry a Whitelighter and a Witch. Piper was crushed, she was so angry that she even tried to get married behind their backs and when that did not work, she went on strike. In the end, after years of struggling, Piper and Leo were married by Piper's grandmother, who is a ghost no less, in the presence of just their close family. It was not a big wedding but it was an incredibly romantic and magical moment.
Leo's vows : 'Piper, through all the tears and struggles, I always knew in my heart that we would make it here. I promise to love you from this point forever as your husband, as my wife, my lover and my soulmate. All I am is yours.'
Piper's vows : 'Leo, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I was afraid that you were too good to be true, that I didn't deserve someone so pure, beautiful and loving as you are. But here we are surrounded by the people I love most and I feel so proud to be your wife. Leo, I was born to love you, and I always will. |

And then, finally, their dream came true. After months of trying even though doctors said that Piper could never have a baby becuase of internal injuries, the Angel of Destiny announced to her that she was pregnant at the end of Season 4. Throughout Season 5, Piper was pregnant and her unborn baby already caused mischief with his powers (switching people's powers etc.)! In the end, Piper gave birth to the adorable Wyatt Matthew Halliwell (named so to honour Leo Wyatt, Paige Matthews and of course, the Halliwell family). At this point, the only hope was that this would bring even more Magic into their romance. |

However, Baby Wyatt's birth is the beginning of a long line of struggles and events in Piper and Leo's life together. Just a few episodes after Wyatt's birth, piper and Leo have to see marriage counselor to sort out their marital problems. When everythings seems fine again, a mysterious Whitelighter by the name of Chris enters their lives. Chris explains he comes from the future to save it but seems to hide a dark secret. He encourages Leo to become an Elder after an attack on the Elders spares very few of them. Leo, therefore, has no choice but to leave Piper, Phoebe and Paige. Piper is shattered and furious. She confronts him but he makes her understand that he has no choice and will always love her.
Following this, Chris becomes the girls' new Whitelighter but, having tried to imprison Leo on a mythical island, his intentions are unclear and untrustworthy. |
