It has been brought to my attention that you, a girl whose name I dont even know, apparently thinks that I am special.  I can only assume that you think I am special by the way you ask Why are you special?

Before I delve into the real meat of this, Im going to have to name you.  I feel quite odd referring to my reader as you, so you must excuse me if you dont like the name that I am about to assign to you.  I will now refer to the girl who asks me why are you special as Rosaline.

As I have said before: Rosaline obviously thinks I am special, and she wants to know why.  First of all Rosaline, I would like to thank you for considering me to be special.  Looking at the definition of special, you seem to think highly of me.

What is it that makes me different and perhaps superior?  Is it that I dress in non-conventional styles and patterns?  Is it my different than ordinary thoughts of many topics?  Or is it that I am the kind of person who takes his time to write a paper about being special when I still have a huge study guide to do for my Humanities class?  I do not think that a mere style of dress is enough to make one special.  Many people may dress differently, maybe they are all special  Personally I dont feel that my style of dress makes me special.  My thoughts, although not being the most common, are often shared by others.  If I am special for having these thoughts, then all others who share them must also be special.  I do not think that my thoughts make me special.  I am inclined to believe that it is the combination of everything that I am that makes me special.  For no one in the world is exactly like me, and that is special.  It is because I am the kind of person who would write this very paper that you are now reading, Rosaline, that makes me special.

Although, not one person is exactly like any other person.  Does this mean that all people are special?  I would believe that.  I do think it is possible that one must have a unique blend of characteristics that sets him or her apart from others in a way that onlookers can see.  Specialness is a subjective concept.  Each individual must decide for him or herself what is special.  I must say again that I am honored to be considered special by you.

I must say that due to the time I have spent answering your question and your very intense interest in why I think I am special, you have become special to me, Rosaline.  So if anyone ever happens to ask you Why are you special?, you are now allowed to say Because Nate said so.

Below you will find a paper that I wrote.  This paper is written for a girl that continuously asked me "Why are you special?"  For a laugh, I typed this up and handed it to her.
