23:00 - Today we received Bojan's working permit by mail. Hopefully, we'll get US visas this week. We have made reservations for the flight on December 19.
- My mother and I went shopping in the afternoon. And she had the misfortune to fall down while trying to catch a bus. I wouldn't think it was anything serious had I not seen two minutes after blood coming through nose and mouth. While I was trying to shake her out of the shock she just sat completely numb. Naturally, I took her to the nearest (maybe even the only) emergency room in Belgrade.
Wow, emergency room in Belgrade, that's an experience. The attitude and behaviour of medical workers made me think that perhaps it is not such a stupid idea to leave the country and never to return.
My mother suffered from a swollen bloody nose, aching and swollen legs which made it very difficult to walk. The neurosurgeon did not even approach her to examine her for possible concussions because of the fall. Standing behind her four meters away, he asked some questions to see if she is sane. For some reason he paid no attention to her nose or to the x-ray photos which he did not even through a glance at.
Then the guy (doctor) who should examine her legs and check if they are broken, did not even have the courtesy to stand up and let her sit. Instead he told me:
"Well, hold her, I don't want her to fall down while I'm examining her!"
It would not be fair to other doctors, if I don't say that some doctors were not so terrible, some of them even examined her and tried to sound interested.
She is asleep now. Nothing was broken luckily - that means no more impolite horrible medical workers. With Gods help, she will feel much better in the morning!

01:25 It's Bojan's birthday today. He got presents at exactly 00:00! And we all ate cake :)
We also have news regarding the USA. We have learned that Bojan's boss, James, has taken the original document - Bojan's working permit. And now we are waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully, we'll be in the States for the Catholic Christmas!

21:00 Bojan called the USA embassy and scheduled the appointment for November 25th. He also booked flights for us on November 28th and 29th - we'll have to see about this. All we need now is the original document which the Americans are to send to us, hopefully, before November 25th.
We have invited all our friends to come to our farewell party on Saturday, which is also our wedding anniversary party. If any of our acquaintances/friends has not by some mere chance received a written or oral invitation, can consider himself/herself invited by just reading this site!!!! :)
Fortunately, I feel much better today. Finally, I do not have to whisper any more, though my talking span is limited. And I am doing my best to make up for all the days I could not eat!!! However, yesterday my tonsils hurt so much that the doctor said it looked worse than last week so he prescribed another round of penicillin shots. That means that the trip to Banjaluka is postponed for the next weekend.

23:00 Here I am still sick. My tonsils hurt like hell, can't talk, can't eat, can't even sleep. Tomorrow is my last penicillin shot day. But I need to see a doctor while I am not cure at all. Perhaps, Fleming should not have been given the Nobel Prize for his discovery - it does not work!
The weekend was spent pretty much stupid with me going to the nearest emergency room for shots. Of course, we checked for flight reservations and prices over Internet
-. At the moment we have so many things in our minds to do. Bojan has to organize everything for us when we get to the States through his colleagues there. He may have found us a car. His boss, James, has an old Saturn SC 2 (1994) whose engine blew up. He wants to fix the car so we share the cost. The car is his but we get to drive it. Click here to HAVE A LOOK AT STARUN SC2
-We could not go to the USA embassy today because of their national holiday. We need to know what kind of papers we need more.
-For the weekend we are supposed to go to Bosnia. Bojans needs to see his family, Banjaluka colleagues… It so happens that our wedding anniversary is on the 17th November.

18:50 Bojan finally got the answer! This is what his boss in the USA got:
Application Type: I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER
Current Status:
On October 30, 2002 the appropriate American Consulate or port of entry was notified by cable, telephone, or fax of the approval of this case.
It seems we are going to the USA!
By the way, I'm very sick. My tonsils hurt like hell, and I have to get five double injections :(

Wednesday 6th, 2002
00:06 I just got a mail from my friend Boba.
Namely, yesterday I created a photo album with respectively photos of my USA friends (MIlica and Sretna) and of my brother Marc (from Germany). I also put some funny comments underneath each picture. It was all meant to be a joke. But somehow, my friend Boba does not understand why I did it.
Firstly, I'll give some reasons why I am making this site:
-it's fun to do it;
-it's my hobby;
- it's also a practice for a major project my husband and I plan to undertake;
- this might be my future occupation;
- it helps me learn more about my computer which I can use later on;
-to keep my friends and family abroad informed about the things happening in our lives;
-maybe to share my thoughts with them.

Secondly, why did I create that album?
- I thought it would be a good joke!

As a sign of respect to my friend Boba, I deleted the album. Besides, she is my friend and if a friend wishes to correct something I have done, I should listen and do better! Anyway, I should not put anybody's picture on a public place without first asking.
Therefore, I sincerely apologize for any harm this album might have caused!

17:00 Most of the day spent resting.
20:30 Had guests. Verica, David, Mira and Ivan came to visit. Mira's company is going through major reconstruction - and now, yet another programmer is looking for a job!
23:00 David, Mira, Ivan and we went to XL, the famous Belgrade disco club. We had a good time, although I would not call it a disco club 'cause there is not enough space for dancing:).

Monday, November 4th
14:00 Picked up my salary from I*NET where I do not work anymore officially.
17:00 Started Bojan's usual working day around the computer, and with me reading some book about Ancient Egypt.

Friday, November 1st, 2002
17:00 Translated news for I*NET again today.
18:00 Had a private class on Zvezdara - after half an hour I forget when/how I entered the bus … The good thing is that you get your money's worth ride. The bus tickets costs now 15 dinars, mind you!
20:30 Back home. I feel sicker than yesterday. Bojan coughs now :(. Must complain a bit: Bojan forgot to feed the fish today :(
This is what we have learned about Bojan's company in the USA:

- it changed the owner. The company was sold to James;
- it is good that Bojan had worked with James before. Their cooperation was successful and satisfactory on both sides;
- James still expects Bojan to come to the USA.
We have 7 more days till we find out the verdict of the Immigration. The change of the company name may cause problems.
23:45 We have big plans for tomorrow. But since we caught flu, I doubt we'll manage to do everything. Bojan has to work maybe all night.

13:00 Went to a hairdresser's. Now I am myself again - not so dark any more :).
17:00 Started working for I*NET. Bojan also works although he is still ill. I filed some more job applications…
19:00 Bojan got assurance from his USA colleagues that they expect him there.

Wednesday, October 30th
10:00 Gave a German class to Iva on Banovo Brdo. Iva still can't remember that HABEN in German means 'to have'…
15:00 Made some fish for lunch.
17:00 Bojan is still ill, but works. Who knows when he'll finish tonight?!

Tuesday, Oct 29th
08:15 I had a 3,5 h test consisting of various questionnaires (capability test, intelligence test, concentration test, psycho test, memory test…). And last week they questioned me in Serbian, English and German, than I was to translate a business letter from Eng into Ser. After all this testing I hope the salary will be adequate :)
12:50 Went to the Employment Bureau where they told me keep phoning them for they might have something for me :(
17:00 Bojan ever more ill worked. I also worked for INET.
19:00 Sneza came to visit and see our innovations in the apartment. Then Julija and Marina came with little Boris.
20:00 Boba came telling us about all the new things in her life. Unfortunately, we forgot to give her back her videotape - SORRY Boba! Next time…

Monday, Oct 28th
17:00 Just got out of bed. Today we are both a little sick - flu, I guess.
21:00 Finally I got the money for the translation I did more than a month ago.
23:15 We heard that Bojan's boss expects him there (USA) in about two weeks time. He is hilarious about it, and I am scared to death.

Sunday, Oct 27th
09:00 Went to Karaburma to give a private class.
13:00 Bojans parents set off to Bosnia.
14:00 Mom, Bojan and I went to my Aunt's. Today is her SLAVA - Sveta Petka.
17:00 The two of us went to the cinema and watched a domestic film - MRTAV LADAN (a nice comedy)
22:00 Learned that Bojan's company in the States has some major financial problems. Many people were let go. Perhaps the thing with our visas will get complicated.

Saturday, Oct 26th
12:00 Bojans Father is putting some beautiful shelves in our living room according to our design. It looks absolutely devine!
16:00 We all went to the Garden Centre at Vidikovac and watched flowers.
19:00 We all went to the Pink restaurant in the neighbourhood and had a lovely dinner.
