Biography:

Sandra Koberlein, Student Outreach Coordinator (East), currently resides in Southern New Jersey with her husband Lindsay and their daughter Ivy.

Sandra is a full-time college student at Rowan University where she is past-president of the NAEA and AENJ student chapter.  She will student teach this fall and complete her course work in December.  Upon graduation, she will be awarded a BA in Art and a BA in Education/Endorsement in the Teaching of Art (K-12), along with a minor in Art History.

This past spring, Sandra returned from studying Art and Art History at The Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy.  She was awarded this opportunity through Rowan University as the recipient of The Seward Johnson Artist Development Travel Scholarship.

In 1981 Sandra earned an Associates Degree in Visual Communications from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and then went on to work for a major computer graphics corporation as their Sr. Corporate Training Specialist.  From here Sandra’s work experiences have included teaching art in both studio and classroom settings.  Her background has always included art and her love of sharing knowledge.

Becoming an art teacher has been a life long dream of Sandra’s and one that she anxiously awaits to fulfill.  Becoming a college student again and getting involved in both the Art Educators of New Jersey and National Art Educators Association has helped make her dream become a reality.  Since doing so she has met many people who share the same passions about art and teaching.

Sandra believes that by getting involved she is able to make a difference in not only her own future; but also in the future of her students. This past summer, Sandra was selected to serve as NAEA Student Outreach Coordinator for the eastern region. She can be reached at [email protected] and looks forward to hearing from you!
