What is Community Planning ?
The Community Plan set outs local priorities for action to improve the well-being of communities in South Wiltshire.
It is an opportunity for local people - in partnership - to take the lead by developing practical community-based, community-led projects right across the district.
Who is doing it ?
The Community Plan for your area has been kicked off by the South Wiltshire Strategic Alliance, formed in June 1998.
It is a partnership of now 13 organizations -
- Salisbury District Council
- Wiltshire County Council
- Wiltshire Constabulary (The Police)
- Wiltshire and Swindon Health Authority
- Salisbury Primary Care Group
- Salisbury College
- The Council for Voluntary Service
- The Community Health Council
- Salisbury Hospital NHS Trust
- Social Responsibility in Wiltshire (Churches)
- Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
- Wiltshire Agenda 21 Forum (Environmental Sustainability), and
- South Wiltshire Economic Partnership
A diverse bunch then.....
But the Alliance is underpinned by a common principles...
...equality...community participation and sustainability
But it need not stop there. The Alliance by its very nature is inclusive - that means your contribution is wanted. It is after all, YOUR COMMUNITY.
How will it affect me ?
As it is your plan, it can affect you as much...or as little...as you like. It's primary goal is to improve the well-being of those that live and work in South Wiltshire. In doing so, it will make your life, your environment and your community a better place in which to live.
That is if you don't get involved....
But if you do....
Community Planning is a means of involving local people in decisions about their future. Already involved are people from all walks of life, from farmers and vicars to policeman and school children. Nearly all groups are represented. But does that include you ?
Who is paying for it ?
"So another project for the Council Tax payer to contribute to then ?"
Everyone can benefit from Community Planning. There is no-one who can be discluded from its potential.
If you are not affected by the roads in your county, the environment in which you live, the hospitals in which you get treated, then the Community Plan isn't for you...
