Yes....the Enchanted Forest was very real.
The photo on the right is of the entrance to the original Enchanted Forest. It's located on route 40 west near Ellicott City Maryland.
As a small child, I spent many carefree hours exploring the park. One entered through a large castle that housed a gift shop. My Aunt Eleanor would greet us and hand us the tickets to a full day of fun and excitement.
As you walked down into the park and surveyed the expansive gardens, you would run into Little Miss Muffit with her Spider. Along the way you could ride tea cups into the world of Alice In Wonderland or visit the Three Little Pigs.
I loved to tickle Willy the Whale and look up to the giant perched on top of the beanstalk. My Aunt Evelyn would stop us at the Robinhood Barn and give us free hotdogs and icecream.
What wonderful memories of a world long gone. Now there is Disney and Universal Studios. They are wonderful but the memories aren't the same!
